Bearing Problem

I have two nova engines, ( p5 and 4btt )

In about 4-5 gallons of fuel ive had to change 3 bearings and 4btt and 1 on the p5 because they rust out...

WTF am I doing wrong??!?!?!:confused:

I empty the tank everytime i stop using them. Run the engine dry with Maxy's After run Fuel.

and Put after run oil...

then I find this!

IMO that isnt enough to be concerned with, the balls look fine, if thats what your other ones looked like, you prolly spent a bunch of money on bearings that you didnt need to

yea but it feels crunchy... when i move it with my finger...

Hey Losi Let me know how you like it in the truggy.
You are one of the only people here I will take advice from and value your input.
Im thinking about the Bonito or Toro/nero once my P5 bites the dust.

I know man

I've noticed rusty balls hahaha several times on my Novas, actually it's the races. I will admit I dont always use after run oil, but I would suggest removing the backplate and flushing out the engine with denatured and try a different oil and use plenty on the bearings....I like the Nova oil. It doesnt make the engine hard to start and is safe for the crank fillers and so on...Maybe a thicker oil to keep the metal coated. i bought some blue stuff from a main and it's really thick....

How do you use the afterrun oil?

Most manuals say to do some drops into the plughole but that will not help a lot.......

I fill up the complete carburator and push the car on the starterbox so all oil will runthrough the engine to be sure it is everywhere inside.

depends on what buggy as the xray and mugen run the short manifold in my xray I am just about to run the 2096-41029 the manifold has a tighter curve but you can also go with the 9901-41021 or truggy 41020 that is the other matched pipe for that engine.
cheers:)

possibly two things firstly your fuel you might want to try a different brand? but mostly enviromental conditions do you cap up all you holes on your engine ie carb, exhaust and keep you engine in a dry place? my first plus 4 engine I left in the shed and after a few gallons the inside was a rust bucket only due to the big temperature changes in the shed created moisture build up in the engine and over time rust built up. also its a good idea to break down your engine every now and them and give it a good clean and reoil and put back together. good luck

Will do. I didn't like the toro when I used it. But from my exp. With the btt it has more more power overall and better run time then the +4 so I'm hoping its the same with the bonito as it took over the toro. Casey Peck was running a bonito in buggy and truggy last weekend and he was able to make jumps noone could and it had top end like no other,it impressed me so much I went and got one lol. Only thing I hate about these new.engines are they are so tight even my ofna truggy box has problems ,but now that the btt has about 5 gallons on it ,its the best buggy engine I've ever had . I'll start break n next week and give you my feedback when I can

Con Rods. Where do you guys buy them? I've got a couple of nova's, some rb concepts, a odonnel ss and a go motor that need new con rods. Is there a good place to buy them on the cheap. Just two of the R7s are going to run me over a hundred bucks.

I found a odonnell for 15 bucks shipped but the others are really high. Especially the novas/rb/crono. I can't even find someone with a go.

How much would a used P5XS RB modded even go for after I get it running?

You'll love the Bonito! I too experienced being able to clear jumps no one else could with mine. Only problem is the word will get out and us Bonito guys wont have the advantage anymore:cry:

I have a Clockwork Modified Bonito, it is by far the best Truggy engine I have had. Has tons of low end grunt and pulls hard all the way to the top. I feel I can run more consistant with this motor and hit the same lines more consistantly.

I have both the Bonito and the new Plus 4 and I found that the Bonito has a bigger hit down low than the plus 4. The plus 4 on the other hand is extremely tractable with very good consistant power from bottom to top, the top end however is better than the Bonito which is expected (Short Stroke vs Long Stroke). All in all I couldn't be happier with the setups I am running right now.
