Protek used sell a NovaRossi based engine. I think these were the plugs they used. The plugs maybe rebadge Nova plugs.

Glad I stocked up a bit on Nova plugs. I still got at least 15 more CT06's and a few CT05 and 7's in storage. I'll be good for a bit. |
The regular Protek turbo plugs are SH.

there is a thread just below here that a guy made some molds to see the differences. one thing i noticed is that protek labels their plugs differently. It looks like their Hot plug is everyone elses medium? |

it looks like the SH/Protek are the same as novarossi and all are different from OS.

Steve Bess, holy cow. Was talking about you a couple weeks ago with another old H-town racer. Hope you're right on this, I'd miss Novarossi. Hope things are going well.

what’s up dude! Who were you talking with, now I’m curious :) and it was all only glowing things, I’d assume, haha. Things are going great all things considered. Racing a lot here in Southern California. Working a lot. Enjoying life! Do you guys still have a race scene there? Where are you racing? And I’m with you, I would miss novarossi and hope someone buys them out.
Not much racing in H'townI hear, MIke's I think is the only place? Pretty much quit racing a while back, still play around occasionally. Got back to riding bikes, was racing a little MTB occasionally. Moved to the country, threatening to build a track just to play on, grandkids would like it when they're here. Three of them now. Glad to hear you're still involved. I'd say, "How 'bout them Astros", but the aftermath. Man. Took the heart out of me. |
cjtamu hahaha I actually remember that happening. One thing I've always been able to do is tune a nitro engine by ear; I still help tons of the locals here tune every club racing night, I love to do it. That's hilarious you remember that. If you have any friends who still run nitro & need engine break-in, services, etc, let them know to hit me up please! I do EBIS oil bath break-in, sleeve resizing, bearings, etc. Still all about nitro & luckily here it's growing and pretty much the biggest class at every track. We're spoiled b/c we get to race year 'round, so there's no real "off season" for nitro.
Definitely build that track!! It's "for the grandkids, honey!" LOLOL dude go for it, how fun would that be. I'm jealous I don't have the land for that. 'Stros...yikes. I've been pulling for them here but this is Dodger town, so I have to be careful  |

Picked up a Novarossi Rolling along with a 9853/41031 pipe/header combo. The motor has engine break in service by Drake.
anyone have experience with this motor in a buggy?. I mainly race at a small 8th scale track. |

Ha ha ha. It was all good. Guy named Todd Claunch that used to race GT. He was talking about me being able to tune by ear and I told him I was lucky enough to have good tuners to help when I started and mostly smart enough to watch and listen ;). Told him about a time I was pitting you, and someone else had very similar bodies and the other pit guy grabbed YOUR car and put the wrong fuel in it. You called 1 minute, came down and tuned it ON THE GATE with 11 other engines running and finished I think 3rd? To Fro and Joor I believe so no shame there. Not sure to this day I could pull that off..

Through strange series of events I ended up getting my old RC10GT back. Sold to a friend of my kids many years ago for his son to play with. Still has the prototype Crescenzi CF steering rack in it and Novarossi .12. I can't remember the model number now, but I believe it's the equivalent of the NR that Mugen badged as the MT-12. If the engine looks salvageable when I pull it apart I'll send it to you for a resize. Fingers crossed. Heard from friends: "I hated that truck. You won a lot of races with that truck". Like to have it back just to keep them awake at night  Edit: My sig another funny story. First time I ever raced against JB in a main, when he'd just come back. Humbling. Have to be careful. These stories making me think about racing again ha! |
I think you're referring to the Nova CT12. Great engine. Unfortunately I only have a fixture for .21-.25s and not .12s! I can 100% recommend RayA Racing for .12 resizing, he does great work and has done tons of my p/s sets in the past prior to me getting the tooling.
It sounds like you're already there, re: getting back into racing. Do it do it do it!!! |
