I agree with what was said above.
I think Novarossi World is understanding the Market because 90% maybe of what they sell and for leisure. The person who will simply walk only at the weekend, will not buy a motor of 400 euros, just to walk at the weekend. Will see engines up to a maximum of 300 € I say, and Novarossi between the 100 € until At 300 € or 350 € there are many good engines to choose from. But I can say the Novarossi is not that fast with an O.S Speed OK. But it cost me less € 200. Then in durability Novarossi is well ahead of the others. Is that a Euro-World OK engine good for the Mark but the engine that won the Euro or the World is the same one we bought in the Store? I say no. |
Why do people keep repeating 'novarossi is not as fast as o.s. speed'?
Are you guys drag racing in parking lots or something? Where exactly on a race track is a nova not as fast as a speed? As someone who races with both os and nova sometimes on the same day, i can say there is no discernable disadvantage to either. do they feel different to drive? Yes. Do they sound different? Yes. Does the os have a magical aura due to the insane price? Maybe. Am i any slower with a novarossi? NO! |

Because Novarossi has many offroad models, all with theit price you might say the performance comes with the price. You are only willing to pay less then you do accept a less performance. It does not have to be bad in your total performance but it is as it is.
OS just has 2 or 3 models beside a clubracer and thats it! I am also a cheap racer so I learned myself how to speed up the engines to go fast on a tight budget. |
So I'm looking to either get one of the new Novas out but not sure which one, mantra or rolling, it's going in a buggy if that helps, I know ones a 5 port square stroke and the other is a 7 port long stroke, hummmm what do you guys think? I like a smooth engine but one with enough power to pop a jump out of a corner with a short run up
|
Looking for a Mito 4 rear bearing where is the best place to buy and how much will it cost ? Thanks

What does "popularity" mean? Can go two ways:'one, popularity for watching and paying attention to "pros", and paying 400 bucks per engine. Or two, popularity for ordinary racers, now able to buy good engines from novarossidirect for much, much cheaper. I'll take the second any day of the week over the first. I couldn't care less about "pro" toy car racers and what they do or what they run or anything else… Give me good quality affordable engines, and that seems to be what NR is concentrating on now. And good on them for it…
I don't care how good a Speed is. I'm not paying $400+ for an engine. And now especially not that NR is affordable. |
The discussion about "ordinary racers" was part of the answer to your question, which is that NR seems more focused on precisely those normal RC'ers, and not (over-) paying a bunch of superfluous "pro" toy car drivers.
And good on them for it. I just browsed the novadirect website today, and there are some awfully appealing offers there. And THAT, IMO, is what counts. Not what some pro is running... So yeah.. "Popularity" seems to have changed meaning for NR. And IMO anyway that's a good thing. Changing topic slightly, is the Elite 8 all that much more powerful than the Paloma gold-head? I have more engines than any person needs, but I'm a sucker for a deal... Especially at that kind of price. Those novadirect prices are flat-out awesome... One of the few very positive developments in the hobby I've seen in years.. |

Sometimes I wonder what Novarossi is doing.....
NOVAROSSI EXAGON .21 - ON ROAD + EXHAUST KIT This 149 euro onroad racing engine is not listed on the Nova site, it has 7 ports and a multi exhaust port and it is much cheaper compared with the 200 euro Novarossi Brave which has 5 ports and just 1 exhaust port. To me it looks like from time to time they have a left over stock of parts and they put it together, give it a name and dump it on the market. |
It's just my opinion, but afaic the racing scene has been adversely affected over the years by all this pressure to buy the highest high end stuff, what the racers run, etc. Car racing has gotten WAY too expensive, and therefore exclusive. It may be too late for nitro, but if the days of "you have to have a $400+ engine" are coming to an end, then that's simply great. I don't know if NR saw some kind of writing on the wall(I.e. that that approach was not sustainable..)but if the change in philosophy to focus less on pros and more on ordinary racers is indeed their policy, well that's the coolest thing ever IMO.
Not sure what the boat side of things is like. But I think a change of the sort we've seen with NR in the car world has been an extremely welcome development. I even think it would be cool to see it taken further and for example have local series' just using Elite 5's or something… I know that's not realistic and won't happen, but I think racing needs more of that kind of simplifying (and democratizing..) approach.. Just my very random 2c.. |

Just my very random 2c.. Here in Texas, 1/8 nitro is in a slump. One reason, I feel, is partly because it is "felt" a huge, covered track is the only thing racers will come out for. Perhaps I am wrong about this, but support is minimal, so I think any prospective track builders are intimidated by the need to compete with the really big tracks in this area by building same. Back on thread topic, sort-of. I have two Nova engines. Both entry level 'Life' series. I love 'em and used to wring the snot out of them. Back when I felt an obligation to run. Kept the nitro percentage low, oil mix high and mixture rich. I'd race 'em on a short tight track anytime. Big tracks around here, no way they'd last. For your consideration and comment. Cheers. I have a question about Pre Runs (nova) I got a "Rolling" (Prerun). I how many quarts or tanks do I need to run through my engine before I can Lean it out?
I have never got a pre runs before. |
