Ive got a stock toro nero and want to know what shimming I need on the head button to run on 33% nitro.

I run a Toro Nero in my MBX6T and love it... plenty of bottom end snap and nice power all the way thru to full rpm and it really does go well :), Im just getting 10 minutes out of it but im not using the best pipe set up i dont think.. thats using the stock small restrictor


The Toro Nero dont suffer the same bottom end tuning issues/ dificulties that the P4 sometimes do ... I find it holds its tune as good as any and is easy to tune at that

Ill be buying another one as my spare engine i am that impressed and they are excellent value for money

Thanks Dave for your response. I was actually thinking about adding that engine to my line up as well. I've been just thrilled with the Nova's thus far. I've ran quite a few different brands of engines. Most I've been fairly happy with at that. I've made it up in my mind that I'm going to stick with one brand of engines. Just like my I do with my Losi's not saying there the best. I'm just starting to understand in this hobby. Every quality brand is within a close range of quality, power and reliability. What really comes in to play is the drivers actually familiarity with the product. The ease and speed that you can determine whats wrong and how to correct the problem. For that particular brand.

Most drivers problems come from the constant switching of brands. In search of the holy grail of engines and or cars. When the truth is they just need to learn there brand inside and out. :tire::nod::nod::tire:

You wont be dissapointed with the Toro, the only other engine i have run that compares was a RBC6BB7T and there just way to dear where as the novas represent proper value for money and highest quality at the same time

Many (well most) guys at my track http://www.lrrcc.com/index.php use novas now and there are heaps of P4,s and 3 or 4 Toros all going strong

When my go tech blew up at 4 litres (as they do) i was going to go Nova or OS and i really think i made the right move.. particuly with the Toro Nero :)

Im hoping to get a long life out of this engine :nod:

Today i've ordered my new engine, the FMS :D Hopefully its gonna be a good engine for my driving style.
Now for the clutch, what would you guys suggest? Is the stock losi clutch a good choice or I should put something different?

raced the P5 last night..and man have i forgotten how good this engine is...not as smooth as the plus 4, and i dont think it is quite as fast...but it is a good engine for sure. will have the plus 4 in storage for a bit LOL.

Put a plus4 C crank in it !!

will it drop right in ...what could i expect....i might just do it for sure. that and a ceramic rear bearing..would it be a sleeper

On the toro nero thread you guys where talking about venturies. (restrictors)
I always ran the stock restrictor, because I thought the engine companies put
in the best overall restrictor for that particular engine, but that may not be in
all cases. My FMS seemed to have a rich stumble and miss in the mid to upper
rpm range that I could not tune out with the HSN when using the 9853/41021
w/OD#97t and 25% nitro. I love the 9853's low-end punch. I'm thinking maybe
I should try the 7.5mm or 8mm venturi to get more oxygen in the mix? The
stock is a 6.5mm. Now I'm runnig a 9901 which runs great, but I miss the
9853's punch.
