Today i've ordered my new engine, the FMS :D Hopefully its gonna be a good engine for my driving style.
Now for the clutch, what would you guys suggest? Is the stock losi clutch a good choice or I should put something different? |
raced the P5 last night..and man have i forgotten how good this engine is...not as smooth as the plus 4, and i dont think it is quite as fast...but it is a good engine for sure. will have the plus 4 in storage for a bit LOL.

On the toro nero thread you guys where talking about venturies. (restrictors) I always ran the stock restrictor, because I thought the engine companies put in the best overall restrictor for that particular engine, but that may not be in all cases. My FMS seemed to have a rich stumble and miss in the mid to upper rpm range that I could not tune out with the HSN when using the 9853/41021 w/OD#97t and 25% nitro. I love the 9853's low-end punch. I'm thinking maybe I should try the 7.5mm or 8mm venturi to get more oxygen in the mix? The stock is a 6.5mm. Now I'm runnig a 9901 which runs great, but I miss the 9853's punch. |

I would say p5xl to the guy with question about plus4 or p5. P5xl/9853ss/41005. Really big track 9886/41021 The plus 4 is good but the 5 port just has that little extra. |
after run oil
What can I safely use for storage oil in the FMS? Something I can get at Wally World or auto parts store.
|
Marvel Mystery Oil is what I use to assemble and/or store all of my engines.

full synthetic works excellent imo. that rb mods ARO is the best period !!! |
How does the GMK afterlife oil compare?
|
engines
i,ve been using 2 and 4 stroke fogging oil for a couple years now i use it instead of after run oil it works great for the bearings in any motor for storage also never had it hurt the silicone in the cranks and it starts up easy and 1 spray can last forever for 7 to 10 dollars
|
Just got 1.5 Gallons through my N21R Limited 3 Port. This little Engine is awesome! Still has a bunch of metal to metal pinch. Timed a few tanks today, Ran out at 10:21, 10:25, 10:30. I'm using the 6.5 Restrictor, 9886 Pipe w/ Ofna ] Header, and a Novarossi Exhaust Cooler. Everyone at my local track is very suprised by the amout of power it puts out. Runs at 230 all day long. Could'nt be happier with a $140 Engine! ;)

they are excellent engines period! the price is just a bonus ;) |
[QUOTE=houston;6801845]havent had any issued with the silicone filling and the marvel mystery ?
Nothing yet. I also don't flood the engine full of it either. When assembling new engines, I use a dropper to control oil amount and placement so the engine receives the oil the proper places in the proper amount to ship and get fired up. After the customer gets it, it is up to them what they want to use to clean their engine. Most people don't because they feel the oil residue from the fuel protects enough between runs. I go through mine after every race weekend, clean it up, check things out and reoil the parts the same way I build everyone's engine. I can see some chemicals making the silicone expand and not adhering to the metals anymore but the stuff I use doesn't seem to be affected by the oils I use in the engines. Maybe I will take a filled crank and let it soak in WD40 and MMO for a few days and see what happens:sneaky: |
I heard Nova engine price will increase this 2010. Is this true?

team edition engines  and new hotter ranged glow plugs that hopefully work:D the new plugs are labeled as h instead of f or g , look for them soon . got lots of parts and engines , get a hold of me :) |
motor
whats the best after oil to run i,ve been using fogging oil for years in our expensive modded snowmobile race engines and outboard boat engines so i used it in the glow engines because it lubes the cyl and bearings nice and keeps the moisture out and the motor stays looking like new inside, not that it is a cheap alternative i like it over regular after run oil. who makes the best oil to use i would rather use what most engine builders use thanks for your time :confused::confused:

If i buy the plus4 it will move my truggy fast?i mean i will have the same power with my dynamite 28 but with better flow in bowerband??or my truggy will move like turtle ? i am between 5xlt and plus4 and i am a click before to order my new engine but i dont know which :flaming: also the dynamite 053 pipe is the same with the novarossi 9853? |
can anyone confirm only having physically used one ...that a grp engine tool will work on the current nova engines ? namely the p5xlt and the +4 line ...mainly i am wanting to know if the rear bearing puller in the grp engine toll kit will work ? thanks a bunch :)
|
Finally i buy the Plus 4 Tuned with a Dynamite 053 Pipe and a 41021 header
Thank you all ! |
The winner..either one is a great choice, i am learning more on this thread form all these Nova guys..Monty has been very helpful. I am liking the p5 and may do as he suggested and put a different crank in there.

Monty,
Yes, Stock N21R Limited 3 Port, OD 99 Plug (Didnt have any 100's), 9886 with Ofna ] "Square" Header, 6.5 Restrictor, Sidewinder Prototype Fuel. Tested it on 2 different tracks, One is 150X70, The other was 160X60. Awesome little engine, Had people turning heads at our New Years Race this past weekend. ;) |

Mark I dont know if your aware but Novarossi advise against useing WD-40 in their motors. If you go on their web site and go to faq at the bottom of the page and then go to 13th item down the list entitled, What is after run oil & how do i use it. They advise not to put WD-40 or oils containing silicon in their motors. I know WD-40 is silicon free but perhaps their are other things in it not suitable for motors. Or is it Nova wanting you to buy their oils. Martin i am not "sponsored" per say by the people/companies that i recommend , i just promote good quality products and if i find a flaw in the product i will see what it takes to fix it unless it lets me down during a race over and over even after i had tried to fix.:lol: rbmods after run oil is the best !!! rick is an awesome guy and is a frickin genius in the nitro rc world !!! his products are second to none and his modificatons , well lets just say they are vvveerrryyy very fast ;) happy motorin', monty |
r1harper- The New Years Race @ Mikes in Porter, Tx? I won, Colby was 2nd, not sure who got 3rd. Won by 2 laps and change.
