Hi everyone, looking for some recommendations. I have the following engines,
NOVAROSSI ROLLING(Using it often, still has less than 3-4 liters,so probably will get better. happy with it) NOVAROSSI 28-3 PS( PS started giving me lots of headache, changed to rotostart than finally starter box. In the beginning i didnt like it, but now work well) NOVAROSSI BONITO 7XLB(NIB, havent tried it yet) ULTIMATE M814(Nova based, got it in a lot used, positively surprised, pretty fast) Novarossi 3 port PS(had been using it for 5 years and was the only engine I had on .21 size and was great, but finally it gave up and broke the rod. Can't justify to pay a fortune for a new piston/sleeve/rod since i can put a bit more and get a better engine) I use mainly Kyosho MP9 and MP 7.5 based cars, which the majority have been converted to rally game/gt car. Lot of bashing in empty lots and also local onroad track but no serious racing. Since the Novarossi situation seems complicated, I would like to buy a few engines while they are still available. With the ones I have and my comments what would you recommend? I am in Europe and will buy from italian shops, so the prices are reasonable. Given the above, what would be the recommendations? |
So is it safe to say that the Standard Protek Turbo plugs(not Samurai) will work in Nova's.

I'm not sure what you're asking? Novarossi engines are basically gone from US sources and even on eBay; your choices are limited to what your Italian shop has on hand. If you're bashing in a parking lot, does it really matter to have the most powerful engine? Pick one that's available and cheap, and put your $$$$ into extra fuel and tires.
|
Here in the US it is almost impossible to find a NovaRossi engine. If you can still get one grab it now.
|
The sad thing is that w can't get an explanation of what is going on from Novarossi for a bit over a year now. I understand the lockdown thing in Italy but this lack of communication (especially to Nova users and fans) is complete and utter BS!! Apparently their US distributors are left in the dark as well. This is from Novarossi Direct.

So... at which point are we allowed to reach the conclusion that they're gone for good? We don't seem to be able to get a direct statement from them but EVERYTHING points towards them not coming back, if they were, they'd say so.
The only ray of hope is, that there's this one shop in Hong Kong that's been posting that they've been getting Nova engines all throughout 2020 https://www.facebook.com/page/133554...h/?q=novarossi Why them? Who knows, maybe they bought up everything that was left. |

If enough people suggest that it's permanently closed it'll be changed to that status. By the button "claim this business" being visible you can also see that Novarossi themselves never took ownership of that maps marker, so all info is completely based on user input.

Anyone ever use the 41020 ”long” manifold? I picked one up to try in truggy but just wanted to ask if anyone has used it and what your thoughts were and what engine and pipe you ran with it.
I’m thinking about trying it with a LS-5(P5) my buddy is giving me which will become my practice engine. I’m planning to try it with an Ofna 053 and maybe Ofna 086. I run a Rolling with 41031/9853 and love the performance. I might try the 41020 on this as well. Hope to hear some feedback. |

Just 2 days ago I had a talk with Fenix Racing which is also an Italian based RC company and he also confirmed that even today due the Covid virus many companies are still closed.
I would love to see them come back, I really would. But the level of noncommunication really makes it hard to believe. |
What glow plug can I use in place of the ct06?

That’s what I will switch to once I run out of 6’s. They say taper is different so once you go to an os plug you can’t go back to a nova plug which won’t be happening anyway by the looks of it. |

Ive heard the closest to temp is OS P4 runs a little hotter. Guy said he felt it gave him better idle.

And it is very easy to make Novarossi plugs fit in an OS or Picco engine, did do it last week. Just with an M8x0.75 thread tool going a bit deeper in the button head.

I just found something interesting. There is a Novarossi engine that came up as GT5 2021 RALLY......... Any ideas???
|
|
Also GiMar has just introduced a new 2021 Novarossi based engine.
|
Does that mean Novarossi could still be producing engines and parts?
And you didn't actually no close the doors.? |

I can not tell. On the facebook page of Collari there was some weeks a go a post that he was at the Novarossi factory. One of the reactions of another person was that they did took out some stuff that was sold but was never confirmed.

hi all
ive recently been biten by the 1/8 racing bug and would like to convert my nt48.3 from bashing to racing ive got a pair of 28-8s that ive sourced backplates and cranks for to convert to bump start motors. what pipe should i go with for a med size loose dirt track with the truggy? ive currently got a 9886/41021 combo on it. Will i notice much changing? im hoping the bump start version of the 28-8 is enough to at least hang with the new motors that are out there on the track today. the truggy class is pretty small but it should be fun. |

Did you have the NT48.3 before? Any durability issues?
I bought the nt48 because it was cheap and i wanted to try bashing with a truggy vs a tmaxx platform so i put the .28 from my tmaxx into the truggy. i never really got a chance to bash with it. |

You should have plenty of power to hang with the newer engines that are out there. The only problem you may run into is fuel consumption. Your .28 will consume more fuel than the smaller displacement .21’s being run. Another thing to consider is that your .28 may be overpowered. When racing on a track it’s key to be smooth and not wreck a lot. If you’re engine has too much power it will cause you to break traction more often and make your truck squirrelly. The .28’s were really made for overpowered bashing fun and not for racing. If a .28 is what you got, go ahead and run it! You will still have fun and could still do well depending on who you’re racing against!😎
the truggy is still setup for a similar track and i picked up the backplates cheap. so ill be into racing for less then $50 rather then shell out the coin for a real motor/pipe combo. im just excited to be able to turn some laps. I rarley get a sunday to my self so who knows if ill even be able to make it out there |
