Zixxer drives like he's in Nascar.

Better watch out when he gets up on the wheel

9901 vs 9853

Tell me the difference in them on a +4?

Last time out I felt my car was struggling with mid to top speed with a 9901. Please share you're views as most of the tracks i run has long straight/sweeping corners and very little jumps.

or recommend other pipes..

+1... I didn't have good luck with Novarossi plugs on my P5XS so I started using odonnell plugs and they work great. They last long and give good performance.

What's the difference between the P5XS and the P5XLT?

cargo 02-19-2010 01:24 AM

Need help

I wonder what was wrong with my +4 motor

Well I don't know how to explain this but it like full tank lean bog problem.
but it flamed which is very bad for racing when you flamed after every pit stop.
It just happen lately. Right now I have to richen my lsn almost 3/4 of a turn to compensate which is really bad for milleage from 10 min drop to 7:30

I use OD 97T plug 25% nitro
80 degree air temp with 80+% humidity sea level
lsn is quarter of a turn out from flush (as rich as possible set without flooding the motor)
hsn is almost flush
my motor temp around 220-230 when tank empty.

The P5XS is an older model, (production year 2007) and uses a standard plug. P5XLT is a 2009 production year engine with a turbo head button and a few improvements over the older version. They share the same R7 conrod and a few other features but the newer version is better depending on who you ask. Don't get me wrong, my P5XS still gets the job done. All the P5 based Novarossi engines kick butt! I copied the discription from Amainhobbies below.

This is the Novarossi S21P5XLT .21 class turbo plug nitro race engine. This engine is the revised version of the notorious Novarossi P5 and has a slightly more aggressive power band compared to the P5XL. This engine includes a R7 conrod made from super light aluminum and designed to create the least amount of turbulence inside the engine. The sleeve has 5 transfer ports to create a linear power output and to keep fuel consumption low. The crankshaft is manufactured with a larger bore intake to increase the mixture flow, and has a special shape to optimize gas-flow in the engine. The rear bearing has a outer diameter of 25.80mm and has been used in order to avoid ring distortion and to increase lifespan. The two needle, slide valve, nylon body carburetor features a standard design that allows the use of interchangeable venturi's to tune for any track condition.

I was wandering if any of you know what nova cranks will work in the novarossi 21 plus 5k? My buddy needs a crank for his . Thanks!!

soccerlaw 02-22-2010 08:12 AM

Ran my toro for the first time this weekend (with an 053 pipe). The thing absolutely ripped at all points of the throttle curve. Barely touched the needles all weekend. Very happy camper right now.

Guys,

I'm thinking of using the Plus 21-4 2009 TUNED Edition for the Xray XT8 truggy or the Mugen MBX6T. I have an old, but in great shape Jammin JP-2 Pipe with header I'd like to use. Any issues?

Thanks...

r1harper 02-22-2010 10:33 AM

i would get a 9901 or 9853.for this combo

If it is a 5K; you need a 14.5mm crank.

Either of these p/n's: 15011; 15012

hi all, i am running a stock +4 with an extra .01 mm shim in the head with turbo c5 nova plugs and recently started fouling glow plugs after every heat (8 minute run), the plugs are not compressed, they appear fine, just do not glow.
I have tried running the c6 turbo plug but the motor will not run without the glow warmer on the plug.

any help will be greatly appreciaed ;)

BTW i am running 30 % nitro never had a prob with the fuel

Why the extra .01mm shim? Not needed. The +4 will run jut fine on 30% with the stock shimming. Could be the culprit.

Edit; also try the Odonnell Plugs. They are awesome in the Novas. 97T

That is exactly how I feel the 9901ss performs or doesn't perform , I did however use a 41005 header on the pipe and it definitely helped but the 98543ss is much less restrictive and offers way better performance . IMO

The differences between the two are one has a head that says p5xs and one says p5xl , the turbo is more of a personal preference thing

Thanks for the feedback...:)

Now to look for a 9853SS, which header?

9853ss/41005 is awesome and if you think you need more low end punch try the 41021

I just got a P5X S21 from a friend of mine and the motor is great I have run the Re10 pipe on it and it felt pretty strong what other pipe would you recommend.

thanx for the reply mate, from new the motor had a far more stable idle with the extra shim, but will give it a shot without it. :tire:

+1 on this question. I'll be ordering a P5 in the next couple of weeks and would like to order the pipe I need with it. I currently have an 053 and JP2. I suspect that the 053 is probably a good pipe for it and hope that will be sufficient. I'm wanting 10 minute run times and a nice, smooth, linear power band.

houston 03-05-2010 08:51 AM

9853SS/41005 makes great power through the whole power range while getting pretty good mileage , 9901SS/41005 makes ok power but gets great mileage . If you want more low end on either pipe get a 41021 header .

The new 2084ss should be the best of both worlds ;)

And if you want stupid amounts of power and insane top end try either a 9886/41021 , dynamite 086hs or ofna 086 with 41021 header . Another good one is a 2013 pipe ;)

I just picked up a couple of these...I have heard good things about them. So they are good for a little extra time huh ?

I've tried a quite a few different pipes on my P5XS and the Dynamite 086 works the best. Crazy power thoughout the whole range and 10 min run times. I made a mistake and bought the recommended 3005 pipe but it hurts performance in my opinion. Dynamite exhaust systems are inexpensive and just as good as anything else out there....

"Smiley" 03-05-2010 07:09 PM

Yes. With the Nova Exhaust Cooler, I noticed a 45sec-1min Increase in Runtime. Love mine! ;)

revo61 03-07-2010 11:07 AM

Can you put a turbo plug on a n21r? How much to add the plug? I like to run 20% nitro, what kind of power can I expect?

Yes you can , part # 28002 , minor power increases

More power increase in crank upgrade ;)

Max Power C5Q Crankshaft

Anyone here knows where I can buy a replacement crankshaft for a max power c5q engine? or any crankshaft for Novarossi engine that is compatible with this engine.

Thanks.

Trevor Williams 03-08-2010 06:09 PM

man, I cant see how peeps are hatin' on the 9901ss pipe! I ran mine yesterday with a 41021 on a 6.5mm plus4 C and WOW.......sooooo smooth and gradual, nice linear powerband that had plenty of topend for our backstretch and plenty of low end to clear all the runup jumps.......awesome runtime.......I found my buggy pipeset for the season, no need to look/test any further :tire::tire::tire:

Novarossi power baby :p

I have a 9853ss with a 41005 header coming for my truck!

Odonnell 97T plugs ROCK with 21-4!

Miniracer23 03-08-2010 07:11 PM

Quick question. I got a few Nova C5T plugs at a steal and was wondering if they would be too hot to run in my +4C. I live in Florida, so the humidity is a little higher. Also, I'll be running 30% Byrons.

merdith6 03-08-2010 11:16 PM

2084ss ehh...

Looks the same as the 9853ss, but better runtime. Internal changes to the baffle?? I run the 9853ss with the short round header and it rips, but fuel mileage is not as good as the 9886 with the bent header. About 8min compared to 10 with the 9886. I might try the bent header with the 9853. But the 2084 has me curious.....Bet it's perfect for my p5....

got a question, was thinking of putting a toro nero in a buggy with an re-11 pipe (the re-11 so it wouldnt be so rippy) yes I know there is a scientific combination of pipes that would maybe be better and there are other inexpensive pipes that work also, but my concern is runtime (10 on any track) and smoothness, as I have heard this is a truggy motor but also heard the plus 4 has more torque.... any thoughts??? houstin?????

Odonnell 97T plugs ROCK with 21-4!

Monty i have order two 97t Plugs to give them a try ...i broke in the plus 4 and i run it with Nova plugs i will have problems if i put the 97T?I mean problems for the sealing...
Also i am waiting the 0.15mm shims that you told me... I run byron 25% you suggest me to change the shimming now ( i have burn 1 gallon) or to wait to loose some pinch or to leave the shiming stock?
Thanks i will try also the 9901 at my 41021 header because from the 053MR i am disappointed about the run times...
The plug affect the run times??When i will try the 97T i will post review

That nosram plug looks very os plugish , RB plugs were made by novarossi , not 100% sure if they still are but I would venture to guess that they are so no issues there .

Odonnell plugs are the same as nova plugs
