Ofna Force .21 JL
Anybody try one of these engines?
You could look at the reviews on the RB K9
engine. It's the same engine, with a different cooling head. |
I am very eager to try the JL 21......
link?
looks like a runner:cool:
I was thinking of trying out this motor as well just wasnt sure how good it would be.
Any news?
i dont have any news on it but man it looks pretty good and that price is dam good i would just hope it isnt a pita to tune like the force -ofna engines which i had the worse exprience with leaking etc,i like it though i would wait for a review
I hope who ever does buy it doesnt need any help or service bc OFNA will tell you to kiss their ass when you do call.

I would like to, lets see if it runs:cool:
I have done some research, this engines are going to make some waves:nod:
I know DJ did a lot of testing on this. I am sure he will chime in any time now.
Eagle, let it go. You have been bashing Ofna for over a month. I am sure you dont want the whole story told. Let it be. |
Same as RB K9, mabye:confused: I see some differences, but should be a screamer:cool: Going to lay it down in my town, see how it :tire:
Coming from running a RB Killer 9 since it has been out I can tell you the JL .21 will be a runner. (I know they are the same) Be ready for a long break in, I burnt a whole gallon before I put it on the track. Watch the carb slide also, mine was a little sticky. I have been running it in 2.0 truggy and it sings, I can image it should be really good in a buggy.
Just wait till I get my hands on it !!!! its going to SCREAM !!!!!
 I read the whole thread, the engine looks tight:nod: Great driving in the vids BTW. The Ofna version seems to have a more round block vs the rb, and the internals seem the same. What plug? and pipe you been running, going with ttr 2035 and od 97 at the moment.

Hook me up fellas:cool:

Thanks! I may be able to get more vid of just me from that race. I will try to get a hold of the producer.
97T and 2045/192mm header. I have the three dynamite pipes but I have not tried any of them on my Killer 9. I do run a dyn 086 on my Hobby 9 5port with great success. |
I started out racing with Force engines. Is this engine of better quality???
All right, great info:cool: I will run the ttr 2035 pipe and 97 od plug to start:cool: Thanks for the help:nod:

Jud you have one right now, Killer 9
Yes.
The picco based ones were terrible, but the older force engines like the 4 port, 6 port and delta force were great engines. The picco ones were discontinued fairly soon after too. The old force engines were great. I had 3 of them and they all worked great. The new black engine looks sweet. For under 200 bucks, sweet.

TTR 2035 pipes, also have JP-3 to try.

Not a direct copy of the p5, looks like it has a longer stroke if it has the same spec as the Killer 9:cool:

I start with some history I've had with the two, tghe first was the proto and the second is the production, the first one I had before Sept. and got it ready for the Nitrohouse Labor Day Race at Revelation, yes they are tight engines so they do need some time of conservative running before you really dunck on it and the engine a tune when up to temp engine so don't try to do your tunning on the bench. At start the engines run cold and need some revs to bring up the temps so you can set the idle if too cold it will stall. I ran JP-2,3 and 4 and they resopnded the way the pipes were designed, the 2 was still my best option, the engine sounds like an on-road engine when up to speed, it has smooth bottom end and a good floing top speed, with 1.0 springs and our 10013 shoes they got me what I needed to run good to make the a-main, my fuel run time I was putting was 7 min just to be safe but have 9min on a tank to the end and I also still was on the conservative side of tunning since the Sept heat was tipping under and over the 100 degree mark, that engine managed to egt me 4th place in a 40minute race with no flame outs but my drive train was skipping a gear. It was very impressive for an engine with the dollar price that it's going for.
When the production one came in we have run it hard and I mean I have done a short break-in and then wide open, it still reponds the same waqy when cold and when up to temp but it seemed like I need to take a shim out to be on the better end so nothing major in the tunning process after the shim was taken out, the shim is like .023 and didn't have a .01 around which i think is the better way for fine tunning the production runs just like the proto and we were not to veer away or do any major changes to the engines, hot plugs seem to work the best even in high temps, I ran Picco plugs but any thing will work but I feel like what ever you start with you may want to stick to that since the bottom will form after heat cycle. I had run Picco engines strong and was very reluctant about running the engine but now has my full attion and will be my race engine for 2010. |
