ALPHA OFF ROAD ENGINES
Hello Guys,
I have ordered an A852, a dragon 2 and a dragon 4.
What is your opinions for those engines.
Btw I have a lot of engine(3x novas, 7x lrps, 2xsts,4x k4.6 and some others I don't remember now) and I wanted to try the alphas so don't start telling me there are better options out there, I know!
What is your opinion on power, torque, fuel milage, tunability, consistency, durability?
For parts availability I don't really care as with all of my engines they will never get a rebuild.
And the conrods are never changed because I break the in my ebis system which is easy on conrod.

All three are excellent engines. I didn't own a Dragon II, but I did the other ones. Naturally, due to years of development the Dragon IV should perform the strongest. Both A852 and Dragon IV (again, because I haven't owned the Dragon II so I can't comment) work great with the 2090 and 2107 Alpha pipes. The newer ones which I haven't ran on the A852 (since they were newer than the engine) are 2130 (which is similar to the 2090 but without the adjustable stingers) and the 2134, which REALLY makes the Dragon IV screams- that's the one you should get if you'd focus on that engine
There are small running changes in the conrods between your oldest and newest engine, but as you said you won't change them I won't bother you with the details. Bearings have always been great, so much that I've made my local guys replace the bearings on their different brand engines with these. Have fun!

Hi guys,
If you had to choose between a Dragon 3 or a Lutz Worlds edition (both new) for buggy, which one would you choose and why?
This is for someone relatively inexperienced in nitro racing.
Thanks.

Both are great, but having to choose I'd get the Dragon. I got more runtime from it

Power, torque, fuel mileage, tuneability, consistency, durability- as good as anything Most of it comes down to the user. Personally I've been using various Alphas since 2014 and I've never had any mysterious issues. The perfomance is excellent and don't wish to change to anything else.

From what I understand I will be very pleased with those engines!! I have the 2130A and the 2090 pipes, which came with the A852 and Dragon II so I will try those.
For pipes except from the alpha 2130a and 2090 I also have the Jammin jp1, jp2, jp3, Novarossi 9901ss,9886ss,9853ss, dynamite 053mr, tsais m25, sh efra2060 and I also have 41021, 41032 Novarossi manifolds. Jave you tried any of those on the Alphas???
Thank you very much for your time!!

Anyone have a real nice 2134 pipe they wanna sell? Pm me
What is a good truggy engine to race with as I am looking to do some good racing with the truggy
Thanks I order it with a combo pipe
I've been running the Dragon IV in my buggy and it is a beast. I've put the smallest restrictor in it and I'm running it a bit rich and it's still a lot of power for a buggy. I think it would do great in a truggy.

Anyone running the new fuel saving carb? Anyone use it on a dragon 3?
I'm running it on my Alpha GT Dragon IV engine (in a GT car of course) for 2 weeks now, with a mandatory 7mm restrictor. I've noticed a consistent increase of at least 30-40 seconds, without any real drawbacks. I was expecting a drop in top speed (which is very important in on-road racing) but I don't notice it at all. Just free mileage basically- huge step forwards. On my track, I went from 7:50-7:55 fuel tanks to 8:35-8:40, which is a huge advantage since now I can pit at 7:30 without any fears in a 30 minute main (7:30-15-22:30). With the track being approx. a 20sec one, it was a huge risk before to manage 7:30 with a 7:50 runtime so I always ran 6 minute interval (6-12-18-24). So basically the new carb gives me a free pitstop in a main. Plus, I feel the engine sounds quieter?
I also tried the new rear backplate, which itself makes a few seconds more. It also makes the car idle much nicer, it drops instantly to idle speed unlike any other engine.
In a buggy it will make an even bigger difference. At least 10 minutes should now be possible for anyone, I am sure. It will also work on a Dragon III, because the carbs will all interchange.
