wow my engine never looked like that with just over a gallon of fuel.....but none the less I am sure you would need to send it into Ron for inspection to see what the "cause" is/was

Nah that's a reflection from the camera flash.....

The photos don't really do it justice. It all looks a lot darker than it really is. Its a nice honey color inside.
All the scratches is because the guys in the pits spent ages trying to start it to get me back out there.

The problem was the broken retainer on the front bearing.

Default Werks B5 or B6 and 2058

Hi all, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new motor for my 8ight 2.0 buggy. I don't need the pro version so I am looking at the B5 or B6 and from what I can see the B6 offers a little more performance and costs $30 more. I am planning to pair the B6 with the 2058 pipe.

I'll be using it at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus which is a 1/10 track, typically set up with a lot of turns and one triple, a decent straight the goes into a sweeper.

Anyway I am sure this has been asked a million times but there are a lot of pages here....for this buggy and track is the B6/2058 combo the way to go instead of the B5?

Also, I assume there is no problem running Byrons Race Gen 30% the way it is shimmed right out of the box? Thanks!

IMO from what I'v seen and ran/run at Hot Rods the B6 /2058 is a awesome combo. BUT some of the faster guy at H.R. are even running the B2 in there Buggys ( for Hot Rods track). ie Larry, Steve, Mike, Randy I think they prefer the B2 over the B6. I run at H.R. also. Remember this is just MY opinion from what I've seen and heard with talking to them.

P.s. I have a B5 I might go to H.R. today. if I do go you are welcome to try it out. but i have a 2013 pipe not the 2058 but some one there might let us use one. so you can try it.

IF H.R is the only track you run at the B2 would be sufficent...other wise go with the b6

Thanks very much guys for the quick response. Hot Rod is indeed the only track I go to so it sounds like the B2 is the better way to go. Would you still pair it with the 2058 or go with the 2013? BTW thanks for the offer to try out the B5 but it's too damn hot to go to Hot Rod today LOL. Keith do you prefer the B5 at HR or are you going with the B2 eventually as well for that track? Thanks again all.

You are welcome. I know it's hot BUT..... FYI club racing starts at 6pm on Sat now because of the heat. And when I get a Buggy I would prob. go with a B2 or the Fusion X3 I think. OH... and i think they like the 2058 with the B2 and B6 ( I think ).

I usually go on Saturdays and practice, have not tried racing yet as I think I would embarrass myself too bad - I do OK at practice but the racing pressure might make me fold like a cheap suit LOL! I'm usually there when they open with another guy with tattoos from head to toe - he's an even worse driver than me ha ha! But we have fun talking smack just the same. Anyway I hope to see you out there sometime so I can introduce myself.

By the way 2058 still a good pipe with the B2? I'm going to order this weekend - yet another hobby package to hide from the wife!
