i just picked up one of these engines this week after a suggestion from current track points leader Carmel Tassone and i was not dissappointed. the engine was very easy to break in and runs extremely well for the price. wish i would of pick one up earlier in the season...

Gentlemen,
I almost cried today......The filter boot came apart on my B5 and it sucked a ton of dust into it and lost all compression during practice at Battlefield Raceway for the 7th round of N.Ga.Summer Nitro Series.
Rather disheartened,I pulled a new B5 out and it got a 3 hr break in before a race tune and went on to TQ and finish 2nd in a very heated race.
Anyone that doubts the quality of the Werks line of products is simply missing the boat...So...Ya'll stay on the dock while I finish races. But dont worry. I missed the boat for a long while too!

And I want to say "Thanks" to Ron,Black and the others that gave me direction in solving the "screaming idle" problem I had last week Georgia Championship Series...a pinhole in the pressure tube cost me a podium. Cant fix what ya' cant see!

true not the motors fault but you are right. most motors I have seen thhat reved like that snaped the rod at the crack pin. Just goes to show you that the werks motors and rod bushings are tuff as hell

Was anything else damaged??

I'm replacing the rear bearing in my B5. Has anyone upgraded to the Werks ceramic rear bearing, and is it really worth it???
steel bearing $33
ceramic $73
I'm trying to justify this, but need some feedback.

Guys need some advice here. Last week I posted that I ran my engine at. 300. I thought I might have damage it but it ran strong tonight.

My question is after I found the right tune it was running at 240 all night with great power, however I lost the magic run time. Before I detuned it I could get 13 min no problem. Now that I am at optimal temp I would be lucky to hit 10.

I did notice that the idle was doing something weird. While at idle it go up and down up and down. Once I found the sweet spot it still did it however when racing it ran great. What should I do to get that awesome run time again without having to go so lean.

Are you sure your temp gun was reading right? My OD temp gun has been reading 60deg higher and I didn't even know. So I have been running everything very rich. I was pitting at 8min with the B5 and knew that was short but the temp was reading 260deg. Turns out the motor was only around 200deg when temped with a real gun. Just goes to show we put to much trust in them temp guns.

but I have followed Rons methods to a T and havent had a problem. So if someone is having trouble understanding the reading it might be easier on video

Yeah I'm so glad you picked one up ... Now that we got your motor issues worked out next is just getting some of the other bugs worked out and you'll be running up front

temp your gun with someone that has a good one. do it with a motor that just came off the track. at 200 and up the cheap guns start going south. i have an OD and at 220 mine was only off by a little. + 6 not bad

Went to the track today with my B5 in my new truggy. After a retune using Ron's method she ran awesome all day between 210 to 240. Not one flame out or even a hickup. Even helped a few others tune there B5's and told them about Rons method. There was 6 B5's at the track today which is good being it was a practice day and there was about 40 of us there.

well i believe that Ron has a fair few brains as well lol
he is in the manufacture side of the motors
so he has a big head start and he isnt shy to help others with his wealth of info which i say is top notch in a business customer relationship point of view
also the outlook on the tune guide can always be applied to others motors as well
to a point so good luck i run the b5 tune it like ron said and you should enjoy the fruits of the motor

video is done!!! my boy is editing it now so people dont see hours of a car sitting there with the engine running..lol be done real soon hopefully, I also did a basic tuning guide for some others as well

The rods were perfectly straight and no correcting was needed.

After he told me all of this he went out and purchased a B6 because of the massive powerband of this engine.

So needless to say these motors are phenonmenal. Great work Ron.

I gotta chime in and say that, since I snapped my b5 rod when my flywheel came loose on a straightaway, and I ran a friend's backup OS speed in the same car shortly after, and outside of the b5 feeling a bit beefier down low, and the speed feeling a little more linear, there is nothing really to report. I'd love to say that the b5 blows the speed away, but the speed ran great and tuned easy. Only thing I can say is that I won't buy one now that I have driven a b5 back to back with a speed in the same car and one costs $200. I was a bit worried that driving the speed would make me want to get one, but honestly, it re-affirmed my love of the b5. I think I'm going to try a b6 next since I only race buggy.
