I got 10 tanks on my B5 now. Is it ready for the track now?

what kind of break in method? I personally would do half a gallon of heat cycling before the track. But heck, it's your mill, go for it if you feel it's ready. Just don't fall to the urge to gun it and you should be fine.

Getting ready to attend the King of Kings race at Stateline! I have my new B5 and 2013 pipe broke in and the set is awsome. I have great race tune on it that hovers around 210 deg and has tons of power on bottom threw the top.
I love it! I also have it tuned in just right so the idle drops as soon as I let off the throttle... even after a long screaming straight it just Drops and purs...

The track is huge and I cant wait to get out on it and let this thing loose.
Wish a fellow Werks racer luck!

Chad Man,
Did you break in and get to this tune on pavement or dirt? reason I ask is because I made the mistake of tuning to peak performance on pavement then went to dirt and with the tire spin and lack of traction. Engine started to run lean on me, got it corrected and engine has been flawless since. Good luck this weekend!!!!

I broke it in on pavement for about 8 tanks then went to the track and broke it in more on the dirt track for about 8 more tanks and ended up with a real nice tune thats super smooth, has a great temp, and also a super run time with fast idle drop.... I have since then put a gallon threw it at my local track and hardly have to tune it even though the weather has been cold one day then hot the next.... Love this engine!

On a side note.... I made the switch from OD fuel due to the lack of supply in my area.. I now run S&W brand 30% trophy blend and this B5 seems to like it alot. It has great smoke but not over smokey yanno. This fuel also has a rather pleasant smell to it...
I broke the engine in using the S&W 30% fuel with 11% oil and also for practice during the week.
For racing I use the S&W 30% with 9% oil thophy blend and have a ton of power with great temps and smoke.

Which one??? I used OD97T's and OS p3's. I liked the OS plugs better on the B5, but the OD's are cheaper.

Yep our plugs are really good! For all of you wanting to try one just pick up a B6, you get one in the box for free ;-) Actually all kidding aside the primary cost involved in the manufacturing of a plug is in the element. I know this is hard to believe lol but the higher quality the plug, the higher the concentration (%) of platinum used in the element wire. We use pure platinum wire in ours and my costs actually go up and down every time I order based on the market price that platinum is trading at that day! So I guess what I'm trying to tell you is that if you are getting cheaper plugs, there is probably a reason and that is probably the low concentration of platinum in the element wire which makes them less durable and more prone to failure.

Regards,

Ron

yes I used Rons breakin, I am going to do another few tanks on the road then hoping to make it to the track sunday. The motor seems to be really waking up and wanting to go that is why I was wondering if it is ready.

Im running the b5 in my mugen mbx6 and my losi 8 2.0. In my mugen it has the werks plug and a jp-4 pipe and it keeps up with the guys running novarossi plus 4s and O.S V-SPECS.AND this engine was half the price of both of those.I love it because of the bottom end power

Default B5's in 'bama

Here's a few shots from the AMS race in Cullman, AL last weekend. Lots of B5's in attendance and at least one B6 (Kortz)
The first one's mine
