I found another collet, order one though cause i would like to have a spare.

Praying this B5 is dialed and painless.

Is this piece shimmed for 30% ?

Yes it is.

B5

Who are your distributors werks. I want the b5. My lhs said he cannot get your products. And I would like to deal with him before I get one online.

Hey guys I just have a quick question. Is it normal on the B5's that after half gallon I would be able to grab the flywheel with out a pipe or air filter on and turn it over?

There is still a slight pinch at the top and there is NO power issues I'm actually trying to take some away.

Yes it is nornmal. Pinch isnt anything ,compression is what is important. Less pinch less presure on connnecting Rod.

The distributors carrying the B5 are HRP and the one that probably every dealer in the US has an account with, Great Planes.

Gotta love this motor

Ron,
What a great engine. I liked it so much, that I have bought 4 of them from Amain. I use one for practice and two for racing with one as a spare. On my RC8T, I run both the 2013 and the 2057 with a Werks #5 plug and Werks 30% fuel. Brand loyalty I say. Where can I find your stickers by the way. The 2010 NorCal champs series is about to start on April 10th, and there are several of us in the bay area that use/run your products. Would love to have a banner to help advertise your brand for this race series. It takes us through October. One of the B5's made it to the Amain last week against Ryan Lutz and Tyler Vik and I must say there was no power difference that I could see.

i got to see a B5 run today and im impressed! it was still running a little rich since the break in was being finished and it was pretty peppy and fast! cant wait to see it with a race tune and better yet, get my own!!

Semple 04-02-2010 05:16 PM

Ugh, I have to break in 2 new B5's tomorrow. I'll be using Ron's method. Any tips to make it go smooth? I tend to have more than enough trouble getting the damn things to idle with the massive air gap.

madweazl 04-02-2010 05:53 PM

I dont recall him using a larger than normal air gap.

Bottom has to be VERY rich to get the engine to idle normally with large air gap during break in. This gurantees that your engine with not be initially run lean.

Throw it on the starter box and hit that fly wheel and then get bored cause it is going to idle all day. This will be the easiest break in you have ever done. It will truly make you not want to buy anything else ever again

one8updragracer 04-02-2010 06:22 PM

Thank you Werks (Ron)

I read this whole thread before I decided to click the buy button. This is my first real comp. engine and I paired it with the OS P3 plug and the Werks carbon clutch drinking Odonnell 30% in my new D8T (also my first truggy). Break in went smooth as could be. Once the engine gets a little heat and the idle adjusts, its butter smooth.

Now if somewhere around me would start to carry Werks fuel, i'd buy that too.

My only complaint is no decals included with the engine. Its small, but its all I have.

If anybody's thinking about getting one, don't hesitate, cause if nooby me can get great results with his B5 anybody can.

Yes, its fine. I have a B5 in my truggy I got at the end of sep-09 it has just about 8 gallons on it and it would flop over after 1 gallon when holding it by the flywheel. Its just in the design.

Its awesome that the break in is so easy on these engines. You dont have to wast your time and fuel with rediculously long break ins and replacing rods or bearings. More time to drive!! Thats what we like!! Maybe someday the others will catch on:lol:

I always thought it was funny when people who ran different brands would brag about how they have 7 galllons on an engine before it died, then they tell you it took 2 gallons to break it in. I will take the Werks 1/2-3/4 gallon break in and last 8+ gallons anyday! I hate long break in's.:)
