Is there another brand turbo button that I could use on a Sirio SP21PRPRO?

evo 2

so is afm the only guy on here that hasnt had a prob with the evo 2, i think there was one other guy somewhere on here. i can afford a conrod a month or two months for that matter, i have a OS that has been a tank and i think im gonna get a nova or sts.

$200 evo 2 plus one rod $50 w/shipping = the price of a nova thats not gonna break!!

i want reliable and fast, not scared to run it hard.

I think the solution is to get the conrod pin hard chromed to add .01-.03mm to the diameter. That will fix the problem. The other solution is to re-bush the connecting rod with a better fitting bushing. There some boat racers here it town that do that kind of stuff frequently. Would ther be any interest in getting a batch of the rods done? B/c it would be more economical to do more than one at a time. BTW I saw another just broke-in evo2 at the last MWS race with the tell tale crankshaft wobble at TDC. New rod! Cha ching $40!

Maybe they need a dirty great big oil hole? hehehe

Will it be possible that you guys have a bad batch of conrod in the EVO2? I have been running mine and till today after almost 1 gallon of fuel, the engine is still going strong.

What I did for break in is WOT at rich 2 stroke for 3-4 tanks and race tuned the engine on the track in the next 2-3 tanks.

Btw I am running the AAC 5 port with OS 6 plug, fuel o'donnell 25%.

sup 06-23-2004 08:47 PM

never heard of anyone running the AACs say something bad about the engine. in fact, i have not heard of someone breaking the engine. maybe the ones breaking them are abusing their engines a little more than usual? we live in a tropical country, so i think our engines here wear quite higher than those living in cooler areas. just my opinion though. :) the only problems we encounter regarding sirio engines are leaks, which can be easily fixed by rtv.

no4hitter 06-24-2004 02:35 AM

My evo 2 has about 2 gallons thru it and have not change the conrod. There is a little play in it but not that bad. I keep a pretty close eye on it with all the problems I know everybody else has had. I have a spare rod but have yet to use it.

Yes a bronze collet comes with the engine.
I just came back from Europe and bought my second Sirio S12 Evo 2 from the last batch........quality keeps improving.
I was present at the 1/8th 3rd round of the Spanish National Championship, and helped a private friend driver get a solid 4th place with a ballistic Sirio, just behind the podium pro-drivers.
I tell you these Sirio's are strong fast engines.....I would like to have seen this engine in hands of a pro driver.

well i picked up a good used trp for my mtx3 and its doing fine, hopefully by next season all the kinks will be out of the evo. is the middle adj needle hard to turn for anyone else, the needle that faces the rear of the car?

Finnitro 06-29-2004 12:40 PM

I just purchased EVO 2 and need glow plug to it. What do you guys recommend. Outdoor temp is around 15 to 20 degrees.

I have evo1's and 2's with 2 and 3 gallon of fuel ran through them. Some are Smeltz modified and Richey Modified.
Granted there is rod wear and its time for change, but still good performance and decent compression on all the engines.
I guess maybe I have been lucky with them, but I still say break in is where the problems with rod failures begin.

My EVO2 is running very well with OS6 turbo plug.
