First is remove the carby use a fine pin to cearfully remove the 2 o-rings inside the engine block try just to grab the edge of the o-ring with the sharp end of the pin. Once that is done inspect them as sometimes when a carby is installed from new out of box they can cut a small bit off the o-rings as you slide the carby in. I sugest you take the stock ones and go to a shop that sells o-rings and get some new ones the same size and replace them in the block. 2nd is remove the carby retainer nut you must do this in order losen the side with the screw with the carby in the crank case and push on it as you losen it so it pushed the side the bolt screws to out. Remove that side and then use a hex key or very small screwdriver and push the outher side out. If you push them in to were the cut is made in the crank case for the nut to tighten on the carby you will damage the o-rings on the retainer nut. Check the o-rings on the retainer nut if they are marked replace them. 3rd is remove the carby ball link and the carby dust protection boot. With this step you have 2 options if you use the stock sirio carby boot you should clean all the oil from inside the carby dust protection boot and the carby with some metholated sprits or unleaded fuel. use a high quality super glue or CA glue put some in the grove in the main carby body were the dust protection boot sits being cearfull just to get it in the grove then replace the rubber dust protection bood and the ball end. If you are worried about glueing it you can use a novarossi or rb nova based engine one 12 and 21 size they are much tighter fitting and there is no need to glue them. If the engine is still leaking it could be from one of 3 places the back plate from under the head button or glow plug. but most likely its from the front bearing. Do not worrie about that they all leak all the time. The only way you can slow this down is with a rubber sealed bearing and even then it will start leaking not long after. The only thing you should be worried about is if paformance or tune is being afected If the engine is very very hard to tune and to get it to hold a tune Then It could be sucking air eather through the carby or front bearing. Dose your engine run good and dose it get good paformance. By the looks of your track id probaly be running a mid to high gear ratio It looks very free flowing and high speed? Regards Jeremy.
IN every, Our club race racer all using different type engine like RB, OS, Nova, Orion, Rex , Ninja, Sirio etc and all you can name it. I would try again to see if it's still leak like theres no tommor. |

okkkkk then

really when you look at them, theres no 'one' engine that is above the rest.
they all have there faults and they all have their strengths. its all in the tuning! i run sirio because i can get parts easily and they are fast. |

STi - .12 3 port - RRR V1 EVO
Guys,
I need some help here. I have a new STi .12 3 port. ( less than 1 gallon of fuel ran ) The motor is balistic top end. I did have a few issues with breaking in and with the kit. New to nitro.. I didnt use lock-tite... learning curve. anyway the car is dialed... just need more punch. 1. What went wrong and what I fixed. ( but I still want more bottom end ) carby was not seated fully. - fixed and re-tuned.. (air leak ). 2. Changed from 30% Rocket S. to 20%. - Local Kyosho sponsored driver recommeneded. 3. Will over oiling the filter cause any type of issue? I do really pack on the oil on the filter. local guy noticed me oiling the filter and freaked out... I took off the filter and i could see blue oil in the intake... good or bad? effects? In your opinions.. is it the clutch or the motor.. did I mess it up? It is getting better now. but. when I start the car i have to really rev it to keep it from dying. Once it gets warm.. its fine.. after 5 mins the temp is 220 running hard at 80-82 deg outside temp. I did losen my clutch.. after reading the forum.. maybe i need to tighten instead? Gearing is 17/23 56/61. I am going to order another Sti.. just in case this one is messed up I guess. The speedline is coming up.. i dont want a DNF due to motor issues. Thanks |
hey guys
just wondering if you could point me in the direction, im looking for a site that sells evo 3 piston/liners, also i have an old evo2 that i wouldnt mind fixing for a little project. any help would be appreciated, thanks |
well , there are a few factors here (1) ones you go up on nitro% ITS NOT GOOD
to go back down (2) what pipe are you using (3)todays high end motors like nova, mega, sirio and os and so on , 220deg for a temp its not that high this motor should running apprs around 250 to 260deg and that is running it balls to the walls so look into those things. :sneaky: |

Thanks
I started with 30% and then went down. I spoke to a serio sponsored driver and he told me to use 20 or 25... I went to 20.. after he asked if we shimmed the head... no idea what that means so... i guess i didnt..
Anyway. thanks for the tips. I just ordered another Sti so now I have a practice motor and one to race with. What are the best air filters? I am going to the track tomorow. I will do more testing. The track is not that big.. what gearing is recommended. I will get new gears tomorrow. |
nitro and pipe
The pipe is 2611 sirio
should I switch back to 30 and shim the head.. i have to find a shim and get help. but I can try it. |

Sirio engine in my exprence are among the fastest engines going the can be hard to tune but when they are tuned corectly there is not much that can stay with them. Regards Jeremy.

At present, I find that the stock shims, 20% nitro and a Sirio 7 plug does not provide enough bottom end for the track I run on, with either the Sirio or Skyline pipes. Clutch nut on my RRR is 1.2mm and I'm using the stock gearing. It spools up nice and smoothly, but I want a lot more speed than it's giving me. Since I haven't had enough time to experiment with the engine yet, it's possible that I just haven't leaned the LSN enough, need to adjust the clutch or change my gearing. In simpler terms, my CRF is currently faster than my STI. |
