Alright Monty time for my update on the plus 4...ran tanks 10 through 13 today, all back to back. 2 shut downs, one was weird but no big deal as it is really just finishing break in and the other was after I started tuning the LSN. By tank 12 I was letting it get on the pipe for about 2 seconds and letting go. Started to impress me, but I restrained until the end of tank 13 to put some what of a race tune on her. HSN is just out from flush and the LSN needle is just in from flush, lowered the idle stop screw a little. I forgot how sensitive Nova carbs really were. I would adjust the LSN and the idle response was almost instant up or down.
Motor comes back down to a stable idle, and only drops a little rpm after about 8 to 10 seconds of idling. Gonna just leave it alone at this time until it drops it nuts  I gotta say this thing is a monster. Did some short WOT throttle during tank 13, holy $hit! Low end is responsive and top end is great. Houston's Engine Service is the best in the business!:D VIVA LA NOVAROSSI! |

Anybody run a 2058 pipe on a plus 4 btt? I have it in my bin and want to try it out over the 9901/21 combo I have now but I also don't want to waste the time/fuel if its not going to do any thing. I really want a 2096, but I am going to wait as I want a buku komp clutch first.

Hey Houston! Just wanted to give you huge props on my engine! Got to really open it up and let it eat for the first time last weekend down here at SRI Raceway in Louisville, Ky. I ordered a plus 4 "team" with the bench break and filled crank. Been taking it easy on it since i got it and picked that weekend to finally open it up and see what it had on the new layout. I'm proud to say I was in AWE! I was the only nitro guy consistently clearing a huge quad jump. No body even came close to me on the 2 straights either. I was so impressed because I hadn't fully6 got it tuned in and it was just walking away from people with ease. Even heard a guy on the drivers stand say " Did he just clear the quad? Must be a bad a## engine!" lol. that made me smile.
Just one question. You have listed on your site the recommended temps for the #5 and #6 plugs. 75 degrees being the the borderline between them. Under 75 is #5, over is #6. I'm gonna be racing this weekend and the weather is supposed to top out at right around 75 lol. Would i run the #5 in the morning and switch to the #6 in the afternoon or just stick with one or the other. I don't want to lose my tune once i get it close... ya know? Btw this is with an 8ight 2.0 buggy, byrons 30%, and 14/50 gearing/steel flywheel and a RE12 pipe. |

Its not as if the plug change is a mandatory thing at 75° so you will be fine , if you lower the deck heighth by .10mm i would say stick a c6tgc in and git r dun |
Monty, can you give me a quick explanation on head shimming. When to add a shim, when to take out a shim, what are some symptoms of too much shim and not enough shim? Thanks

At stock shimming i would stay with the c5tgc personally , broader tuning window ;)
