it pulls everywhere

86 pipe makes lots o power for sure!!!!

i love that pipe , sometimes even in truggy ;)

the interesting part is the gearing and how final rollout (gear ratio) effects the engine and its power production . the 32 pitch gears we use for 1/8th scale have a pretty broad spread from one gear to the next so it is a little harder to dial in then a 10th scale is . a lot of thought has been put in to the gear ratios on the 8th scale vehicles before they have been released to the public and is usually pretty darn good  some buggys have different ring/pinion gear ratios (associated uses truggy gears) and that lets you use large clutch bells with more gears on them , good concept? seems to work fairly well ;)

we are all fools ;):lol:

i for one would love to tap into the vast amount of friction materials that are out there and apply them to our rc vehicle clutch shoes  impulse rc;)

two cents worth and just a ramble :p

Hi.

Year, I know you are the expert. I'm not trying to say anything else :)

Here is the gearings you can make on a XRAY buggy:

As you can see, the steps are really small when it comes to bell/center diff ratio.

Cheers

I am perpetually learning what I can about the toy cars I like to play with ;)

Ya , you are able to go in small increments if you change spur and clutch bell combos but just changing clutch bell a tooth changes the gear ratio quite a bit and chenges all the characteristics of the engine

Just changing the clutch bell is what most people do ;)

Cool Monty :D

Another question:

Is the 41005 shorter than a 41021 header?
What about he 41001?
... Or is it just the shape that makes the difference?

I would like to try a header, that is approximate 1 cm shorter than th 41021.

Cheers

ya the shape of the header makes a pretty big difference in the effect the exhaust has on the engine .

1 cm shorter than the 41021 ? i would say try the ofna/jammin round header , i believe it is a little shorter than the 41021 .

the double bend headers from short to long 41019 , 41001 , 41005

try evrything and educate yourself , this will allow you to see what works best for you ;) remember after you change pipe/header you will have to retune the engine

Hey Monty, I got an unusual problem w/ my Toro. A few races ago it went crazy rich in the middle of a race and couldn't figure out why. Had a new TKO front bearing put in and had it pinched while it was apart figured it couldn't hurt. Last week I was letting my dad run it, and during his race it did the same thing. It was so rich and happened so abruptly, I at first thought the throttle linkage was getting hung up and not opening all the way. I ended up leaning the top 2 full turns to get it to get on the pipe. It ran fine for the rest of the race, came off the track at like 210 or so, and still a little fat. Any idea what could have caused it.

I thought that too. checked the tank for leaks and found none.

allan42r 03-29-2010 07:48 PM

are you guys getting over 10min of run time with the toro ? i know many things = run time.

icemandolmite 03-29-2010 07:52 PM

FILL YOUR TANK AND TURN IT UPSIDE AND SEE IF IT LEAKS FROM THE LID

listen to LA (icemandolmite) he runs hot bodies and has had the same thing happen to him . there is nothing in the engine that could go wrong and cause 2 full turns out of wack tune ;)

houston 03-30-2010 05:06 PM

the tuning bible has been edited with even more knowledgeable tuning tips !! check it out !!

I wasn't able to find a leak. pressure checked my tank and filled it with fuel to check it. I'm gonn replace it anyway. Just curious though, I would think a leaky fuel tank would cause a lean condition, not rich?
