any one run the new st motor yet? how did you like it? thinking of getting one of these motors for my new rc8.2.

15 minutes of free breathing cause my 121VR lost its air filter + Dirt inside the engine = Very low compression now :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

Sorry bout the engine....

I found some really nice zip ties that have the metal locking tab inside. they have really small clicks and hold really great. They are kinda hard to find, but well worth it for the air filter.....

I did removed the air filter to inspect the idle gap a week before and I've reinstalled with air filter with the old tie wrap.... :(

That's funny how 1 or 2 cents can save a 200$ engine :)

Ran the Reedy engine this weekend for the first time and she did not miss a beat. Smooth controllable power, decent runtime and didnt have to touch the needles all day... I wonder why these engines are not more popular... 121Vr + 2035=:D .... Very happy with this combo in my RC8.2

That's good to hear. I ran a VR+2035 combo two weeks ago for the first time and liked it. Just enough power for a buggy and smooth. It kind of felt like a vspec with more bottom end grunt.

The newer VR's compared to the 1st gen ones about 2-3 years ago are 'totally' different. Bit more power everywhere and more runtime like you say. Tbh the engine is a steal at the price it is, $220 on Amain :o

I have 3 of the 121vr for the past 2 years and they are awesome. Even when my rod went and destroyed the sleeve, piston and the crank I sent it into Reedy and they replaced everything and sent it back to me within 2 weeks and have run it in my buggy since then for the last season and a half. They are great and besides the one problem haven't had any since. Great power with the right pipe and the fuel milage in my buggy and truggy are awesome. Nothing but great reviews from me on this engine and I came from running O.S. Vspecs.

Did everything work out with that RC8T?

I'm not sure if it felt like more bottem end than the VSPEC, I did not struggle to clear anything but it didnt have the BOOM instant hit of the vspec which made it more enjoyable to drive....

Old thread it seems but Having a small problem with NY 121vr.the motor starts lean bogging very bad about 4 min into a Race...can richin the bottom end 3 hours and it still does it.I have put a new oring kit in it and completely sealed it... It comes off the track after a7 min heat at around 250.. Any ideas? Great running motor just got to get the bog out of it...

250F is not bad for that engine. How many gallons? Is your front bearing leaking?

2 1/2 gallons. Front bearing seems to be good .

Carb Clean?
Fuel and exhuast pressure line good condition?
No leaks in fuel tank?
Kinda sounds like one the above might be your problem, especially if it happens after 4 or so minutes. Good Luck...

Could it be the clutch?

Sounds a lot like there's air bubbles in your fuel line to me. Have a look at it next time it happens.
