The engine comes with a .2, .3, and .4mm shim. The .2 and .3 are already installed. The engine is ready out of the box for 30%. What I like to do is remove the .2 and add the .4 just for break in, to reduce the compression to help idle and also take load off the rod during break in. After about a 1/2 gallon of fuel, I take the .4 back out and go back to "stock" shimming which is .5 mm.

Are the shims labeled someow with their size? I will try that out!

Nope, you have to measure them. That's the only way.

Don't take this the wrong way, but get a set of $15 digital calibers from harbor freight, every racer should have set. Measure shocks, shims, head shims, among a million other things when setting up a car.

As for the shims, you can tell by looking at them if they are thinner or not, thinnest .2, largest .4mm. Use two largest together for break in, thin use two smallest together for 30% fuel race tune.

lol, 10-4. Maybe I just assumed that when you asked if they were "labeled" you didn't have anything to measure them with ;). All good. Enjoy the engine.

What plugs is everyone deciding to run since the bastard dont come with one? I see alot of people running the Odonnel 97T... How does an OS P3 compare?

Bad idle with the P3. The only plugs everyone is using is the 97T and P4. I don't think the Reedy plugs are out yet. That's the reason the motor didn't come with one.

Its official. This motor with a 16t bell in the RC8B, screams. Also, with a 14t bell in truggy is dialed.

Have tried both JP3 and 2035 the JP sounds better and was easier on fuel then the 2035 but I would say the 2035 was more driveable powerband. Now I just have to figure out how to tune the quack out of it from low to mid funniest thing I've heard from a pipe in awhile.

My carb boot developed a pin hole somehow.... I glued a small piece of tire bead to the out side... Thought after the fact maybe should did the inside.. looks gangsta.

Thanks Brandon for the info and link..

I just purchased couple weeks ago Novarossi 41020 Long and 41021 Short manifolds. Has anyone used these with this engine?
