I have one forsale if anyone is looking for one.. 1 gallon of Trinity 30% with more oil for breakin gallon, then 1 gallon of Byrons 2nd Gen 30% threw it. Re-pinched and timing shimmed for smoother bottom end power.

2035 tiger thunder pipe the same as the reedy pipe? Nobody seems to have the reedy pipe, and my motor came in light a pipe and header cause they were out of stock.

I figured it was, but If I cant get the reedy pipe why not have something Shiny!!!... I'll probably end up getting the associated pipe. I have a 2050 o.s. and a jp3 I can use, which one would be better to use till I get the right pipe?

What does cooking in antifreeze do?

The black ones are nice because it cleans extremely easy with just a rag. The chrome ones you have to cook in antifreeze.
And you still didnt answer my question of which pipe would be better :) Thanks for all the help Joey, You're making my transition to the dark side even less painless..... |
When you cook your chrome pipes/headers in a crock pot full of antifreeze they come out looking like new again. I normally cook them over night in the garage or here at the shop.

I will second Joey on the 2050 pipe. Worked great with my engine. I only switch because I prefer to run pipes made for the particular engine. So I picked up the Black Non-stick 2035. I think it actually made the engine more lively then the 2050. Runs slightly cooler too. Clean up is a breeze.

Has anyone tried the ceramic Boca Bearing kit yet ? Did they fit properly ?

New motor break in
Just broke in my reedy this weekend, very impressed with it so far. Broke it in according to the manual, it ran 3 tanks through it on the box without needing to be restarted, let it cool, did 2 more tanks on the track, then off to race tuning. This motor is a beast in truggy. Its lacking alittle in top end power, but I think putting the 2035 pipe on it will wake that up. I broke it in with a 2050 os. Still have alittle to lean out on top, and just put the other shimm in it, so I'll report back after this weekend.

I see in your sig you race an rc8T, if you are using the stock gearing, it will lack top end with about every motor, if you have a 52 spur, try it. The team uses the 52/14 gearing with the Reedy most places, and I have even been liking a 54/15 at some bigger tracks. Stock gearing is 54/14.

Just an update on my experience with the Reedy. I went to the track this morning to get some time on the new layout and tried to tune my motor in better and after a few hours on the needle here and there I've got her screaming down the Straight with more then I need power in the corners and I got a full 10 minutes with the 7mm, and AE 2035 pipe. Love this motor. Wish I would have had her tuned like this two weeks ago at a trophy race, would have walked away with a trophy. Oh well.
I too have had experience with the JP-2 on a other motors, and it makes good power but tends to eat full like a fat kid with a box of donuts. |
Hey Goomba and Brandon thanks for the info. I do plan to use the pipe on my losi 8T 2.0 but if you guys recomned another pipe please let me know. I cant wait to get back to the states and Just open up on my reedy. I already have one (used) but i plan to get another to have just for racing KWIM. But only about 27 more days untill i can get to Hot rods ;) thanks again guys!!

Well Im about to send payment on a reedy 121. Read all the post and Im stoked. I have a nova 9853/41005 header and a dyn 086 pipe and header and wanted to know if this would be ok until I can get the 2035 when the reedys are back in stock. I dont need a lot of bottom but I want the best fuel mileage. Also, what breakin method provides the best mileage and longevity. Ive always used the heat cycle method with the head wrapped heated up to 200 and run from the start making sure not to put a load on it. Is this a good method for this mill or should I run per instructions. Also, how can I tell if I need to send it in to have the crank changed out.

Mine has served me well. Never flamed out, tune always stayed within a few hours from track to track, The head on it is alittle small, but works. I ran 30% Trinity Monster Horsepower with more oil content for the first break-in gallon. Then switched to Byrons Race Blend 30% after. OS P3 Hot Turbo Plugs.
I will be switching it to my back-up and running a GO GX-5R as my main motor this summer. http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...9/3fa34230.jpg |

Well I started breakin mine in today. Had to richen it 5 full turns to get a liquid discharge out of the pipe. Also richen the bottom a half of turn. She purred for 2 complete tanks at 205-210. What are other guys needles set at for breakin. Also my kit didn't come with extra shims but I have to say. I really like those venturis and the manifold springs. I also went ahead and sealed the carb and back plate with racers edge sealer. This was just for a piece of mind. Plus I hate seeing motors with sealant all over them.

Hey guys I just broke my Reedy in 3 weeks ago and this last weekend heard a strange noise out of the engine. So I tore it down and discovered that the rear bearing went bad. Anyone know if AE will do good on their engine? This engine doesn,t even have a gallon on it yet.

Because there are so many rumours-in the uk any way of the AE boys.. running Speed internals... lol Speedy seems about right them

I found out flush settings don't work. Need to use turns. For instance, my hsn flush is 6 turns out. For breakin my hsn is 4.25 from bottom and lsn is 4 out. I had to keep the head wrapped and the temp are around 230. I'm only on tank 4 but it still idles perfectly.

NeoBuggy posted a saying "Maifield in particular suffered engine problems and having qualified poorly." This was with the older engine, in his truggy he was sporting the new engine along with Saxton and Brent.

Ok I have ran 8 tanks rich with temps starting at 220-230-240-250. After the 8th tank I was about to try and race tune bit thought I would check the pinch. After idle and 8 tanks run thru it the pinch is still there. Is this the case for everyone else. Also I like the fact that I didn't have to use any shims on the clutch bell

Hello,
What shimming should I use for 25% ? |
I'm just using the standard shimming for 25% mate. Have used the standard shimming for 30% too and no adverse effects :)
