and good run time... we pit at 8-9 min (to be safe) depending on track.

Not familiar with the OS V spec motors. So what can I expect for power compared to the B5/B6? Concensus on pipe choice for this motor?
#1537
the B6 may have a little more top but not much more but IMO the OD engine has a little more bottom, the wrong pipe with the OD engines will kill run time and power... we've tried the 053, JP3, RE10 and 2060. the 053 gave great run time but made the engine to smooth IMO, the JP3 gave power but 7-8min run time, RE10 gives alot of power and great run time, 2060 gives smooth great power and the best run time, my favorite pipe on this engine... havent tried a R2 yet though ... the B5/B6 are good engines but the OD engines will hang with them and last a good while and are cheaper.

The track I run on is about 150'x80' with one long 150' straightaway, the rest is pretty technical. Decent sized jumps spaced out pretty well.
Who physically manufactures this engine for O Donnell btw?

OK, who makes the R2, 2060 and RE10 pipes? The JP3 and 053 Im familiar with(I have a JP2 for my B6)already, but the other pipes mentioned I am not.

2060 is made by OS (160 dollar pipe)
and RE10 is a losi pipe (similar to 2060, but not the same)
i do not know the answer to your last question, its taiwanese engine, but really good quality... break in exactly how the manual says and it will last you many gallons, ive heard of people getting 8-10+ gallons out of them.
BTW, the engine takes about 2 gallons to fully break in, so the first 2 gallons the engine is a little smoother and not as much top (still has plenty of power
) but after it breaks in fully, its a whole other animal

these motors are good motors but i beg the differ on the comparision to the werks b5/b6. I own a b5 and my father a ss21 and theres a big power and runtime difference. the b5 will walk all over this anywhere on the range, especially on the bottom end. while the b5 will get 10-12min runtime AVERAGE we can barely get 10min which still is GREAT for a $150 motor. we have already had to replace the front bearing as it started to leak and have had to buy new o-rings in the carb as they were too loose. But it is still a great motor for the money and should last a while.. but it just doesnt compare that well to the power and runtime of the werks b5

What's up guys? I couldn't pass up the screamin' deal from Tower on this engine so I just pulled the trigger and ordered one. Is anyone running this engine with an associated EFRA 2035 pipe? I'll be dropping it in a D8T with this pipe combo. I had an O.S. 28XZ in it but I really wanted something with more usable power that I could control, so hopefully this will do the trick!
Thanks

anyone looking for a good used engine? i picked the SS .21 up about a month ago to use this year. just broke the motor in last week and a few things came up that will probably limit my racing this year. only has 1/2 gallon of o'donnell 30% through it. also, has a Dynamite 086 hard coated pipe on it that was new at break in. PM me.

I agree with trickedout . The ss.21 is a good engine but the b5/b6 has more power everywhere and def. more top end. Keep in mind the werks runs best with a werks pipe which sets you back another $100.00. You can get a re-10 pipe which works well on the ss for about $60.00
