GX-5R with 086 in buggy = nice. GX-5R in truggy, I would tend to stay with the 2072 if you run tighter tracks. Open sweeping tracks go with the 086 in the truggy too. |

I would say the 086 might suit your needs. The 2072 on the GX-5R has stump pulling bottom end as well as good mid and top, but is not as economical as the 086. The 086 on the 5 Port will tend to smooth the bottom end a bit and enhance the top end, which will give you a smoother and wider overall powerband, plus added economy.

Guy's, quick question with regards to the "older" 3 port engine.....
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m.../Go21NPS-1.jpg Got an endurance race coming up soon, 6 hour 4 man team, and to keep a level playing field the above mentioned engine is included in the entry fee, BNIB. Engine will be fitted in a Losi 1.0B, track is ALL astro, looking for recommendations on clutch, pipe and plug set up ? Not looking for "balls out performance", more a middle of the road medium, good fuel consumption is a "must". I ran a "gold top" 7 port a few years back, iirc i was using a RB#6 plug with an extra plug washer, pipe wise was a HN2047, would this combo work well with the 3 port ? |
odonnal 77 plug if its a standard button, and 086 pipe, losi clutch set up with all aluminum, 2 green springs/2 gold springs

Hi
I am running a GX-5R with a 2072 pipe had the engine for about a month now and still I am not happy with tune, I have followed the braking in bible and used the helpful tuning tips on the massive mods website. I have tuned the lsn so I have a good linear power and only have adjusted the hsn just over a quarter of a turn from flush. Unfortunatly here in the UK the weather is not always the best, and was racing the other day at the track and would sometimes just dies after about 6 mins of racing. Still had plenty of fuel in the tank Still go loads of smoke all way to full throttle and when I put my hand near the exhaust I am getting a good amount of fuel (so that tells me I am running rich) but the engine was red hot to touch!!! :flaming: Why would this be and why would it cut out, The weather did start to rain very lightly and other races seems to have no problems to adapt to it. |
