The Caster Grenade is a stock Gen 4 Go 5 Port Engine . There is no work from Italy on that engine.

Russell and I talked about the premature wrist pin wear. He was going to offer my suggestion to the factory.
It is best just to change the wrist pin out every 2-3 gallons.

Hey Rex

the gudgeon pin was up graded to the tini coated about 4 months ago. They are a really nice upgrade. Ive had about 18 litres on mine which is over 4 gallons with no sign of wear so far. The TiNi coating hasnt even worn yet so we are very pleased with it.

The 5.5 upgrades will fit any existing Go Gen 5 or above.

Hi Mark, there is obviously a difference between the Gen 4 and Gen 5 or younger pistons / pins. Can you elaborate on that perhaps. Just to confirm that I can't put one of the upgraded TiNi pins in my Gen 4 7 Port. Ta

Cheers Matt. Just don't want to hug everyones screen time too much
Racing this weekend - Hmmm yeah, bit of a sore point. Boys were down at the track this morning hoping to get it sorted for race day tomorrow, but a big ugly rain storm came through and the track is under water now. Don't think there is any chance of racing as it's meant to shower off and on all through the night here. Darn !!!! another meeting cancelled. I hate winter

The Tin coated pins will help alot but the fit needs to be tighter. When I rebuild other brands I almost alway's need to lightly tap the pins out. If there is any slop when new it wears the pin because it moves up and down in the piston. That is why it is important to change them out once in a while, if it gets too bad it will wear the piston also.
I have been seing Tin coated pins in the new motors also for the last couple months also.

Hey grizz I can't see why they won't work in any gen engine.

I've just compared the part #s between my gen 1 and gen 5.5 7port engines and the p/s/r has the exact same part # the only change between them is the wrist pin part# it has changed from

Gen1- p-0414 to

Gen 5.5- p-0414-03

so I can't see why you couldn't use them in yours without a problem

Adrian

shame about tomorrow I was looking forward to catchin up with some of the outta towners. And I don't know about you but I'm pretty Pee'd off I can't find any info on the RC pro meeting in OZ

CU next week at H-town

Well I'd like First to have one make it to the 1 gallon mark without breaking. Then I'll worry about changing it at the 2-3 gallon mark. Remember, these were new P/S/R sets. Not 3 gallon old sets. Thanks for the help and we'll see what Mark thinks about it when he gets them.

I took the Tin Coated pin out of my 7 port P/S/R after about a gallon just because I changed clips and stuck a new O.S pin in hoping it wouldn't break. The TIN pin I took out has the coating worn off it on the ends and a little in the middle. I'll ship that to you also.

Hey Grizz1 the tini pins will fit all the engines..I put em in both my 3 and 7 ports as they were just available when I did my 2 gallon rod/pin changes and 22 racer I had to tap both my pins out..neither had any measurable wear but were plenty tight enough..maybe there is some variation between engines but I am on my 3rd and 4th GO motors and I've yet to have any pin probs and only broke one rod..and that with no consequences.

Changed the wrist pin on my MM5 5 Port tonight. It is the original pin and had done 115 tanks, so just over 3 gal.
It was in pretty good condition. Didn't have to forcibly tap it out, but it was a snug fit and required being pushed out to remove it.
Both ends and the middle section where the rod sits measured 3.98 mm, so only .01 mm of wear over 3 gallons.
The new nitrided pin measured 3.99 as per factory specs, and was a snug fit, so piston etc looks to be good. Double checked the clips were seated fully with the aid of a x12 magnification jewellers monocular. These are only about $20 and a great tool to have for checking things like this. Just gives you peace of mind - especially when your getting a little older and the eye sight isn't quite what it used to be I would recommend getting one if you don't already have one. Just ask your local jeweller where they get their tools etc from.

I got almost a gallon on my 5 port so the rod and pin replacement is due in a race or two. I got the rod and clips but pin is backordered. hope its here by the time i need it. Also. is the EB mods GO worth the extra cash? i am looking at a second mill. I will eather get the 3 port race and break it in and keep as backup or get the EB mods and make my 5 port a back up. I live 1.5 hrs from the track and it sucks to blow a engine in first heat. Its happened to me once.
