I ran the AE 2035 on the 5port Turbo and didn't like it...I went back to the 053 while I wait for MassiveMods to ship my 2072.
The 2035 made the bottom softer and didn't add much on the top. It seemed to take away from both ends... |

Hi All,
ran the Go 5 Port with 6.5mm restrictor and the 2072 pipe on Massive Mods Amain C2 (blue dot) fuel in my RC8T on the weekend. filled up 30 secs before the start of each 10 min heat and ran an out lap every time, approx 11:50 secs total and was left with fuel level with the restrictor in the tank almost every run.and was able to place my hand on the head without being burnt so theres still plenty of room for it to be leaned out. 30 min final was a 2 stopper as well. engine ran like a BEAST all weekend and didn't miss a beat! I would normally recomend a 0801 or a 2047 for any of the GO engines but he was asking about the pipes he already has. I'm looking forward to getting my 2072 very soon as it sounds like it performs very similar to the combo of the 2047 with the longer header off the 0801 that I've converted a few drivers into using overhere (Grizz was #1 convert), so we'll soon see if someone out there has been following these forums and listens to what people are using Adrian:tire: |
the header as far as i can tell is the same on both my 2072 and 0801.
i had not seen the 2047/0801 pipe/header combo tried before, what benefits were you getting from it? retro i reckon you'll be pretty happy with the 2072 bud :D Mike |
Hi pantera nitro, It's Retro's #1 convert here :p
Adrian started using that combo on his 7 Port. The 2047 is a wicked mid to top end pipe, but it just lacked a little bottom with the 7 Port. Putting the longer 0801 header on the 2047 pipe gave nice bottom end punch with a smooth transition right through to a screaming top end. I have run this combo on both my 7 Port and my modded 5 Port and it rocks  The standard 0801 seems to give good bottom and mid, but it runs out of legs a little at the top on the 7 and 5 Ports (cant comment on the 3 Port as I haven't run one in competition). Basically the hybrid 2047/0801 combo gives good power everywhere in the rev range and is smooth to drive. We have been calling it the working man's 2072 :) It sounds like the 2072 is very much like this hybrid set up, with the bonus that the new bigger volume chamber on it makes more power overall as well. Can't wait to try one out :D |
So where are you guys getting the 2072 pipe from? And does it come with its own header too?

http://www.massivemods.com.au/produc...roducts_id=208 The pipe, as shown here, comes complete and ready to fit. Mark from Massive Mods has tested this pipe on his dyno, and realised a .4 HP increase over other pipes on the same motors !!!! No bull. He posted this on the Aus GO forum a couple of days ago. I am sure he will confirm these figures if asked. |
woooooo hoooooooooo 2072 pipe will turn up soon i look forward to putting in my go engine i ran it with a 2053 pipe and it was awsome i havent tried any other puipes only got the 2072 pipes

Yeah Matt. Thats too good a motor to let go of. I am sure you can tame it for the buggy with a suitable restrictor and clutch adjustments etc. Try a 14 tooth bell. That smooths out the 5 Ports quite a bit. Would be a shame to say goodbye to such a work of art :(
If it's still too much in buggy for you Matt save it for a truggy. |
While I am waiting for my 2072 to get here I got a Caster Grenade pipe for their 5 port to try. It looks similar to my Dynamite 086 but the header is way longer and a tad thinner but the pipe is longer, fatter and has a 053-ish taper at the end. I am trying it this saturday on my PTM 5 port and will be my primary for my Powerhouse 3 port which I started break in on yesterday.

My dads Go 3 Port Race finally died after 10 gallons / 16 straight months of use, now he ordered a new one, one question, if the carb on his new 3 port has the Go logo in the front is it a Gen 5.5 or not? it also came with a set of restrictors in the box

Retro RC and me will be getting the pipe through our local New Zealand GO distributor, but you can get one on line from Massive Mods in Australia -
