OK... decisions decisions

Don't some people use "other" plugs with two washers?

Anyway...
so with the turbo burn room I would use something like the OS P3/P4/P6/P7 plugs?
and with the standard burn room I would have to use something like the OS A3/A5/#8?

slakr correct, except you can also use the o'donnel o.s. compatible standards 77, 97, 99.

This is the go thread we want everyone to get the most of there go engines, so i wouldn't reccomend de tunning it with a standard burn room and then using two washers and novarossi plugs. The best situation is to put the turbo burn room on your novarossi then you are improving that engines performance using 1 plug and getting the best performance out of both of your engines.

e-dog, please send me an email at [email protected] we are replacing the long needles on any engine purchased within the U.S.

Back when my 7port had a standard head I found os no.8 plugs are good..cheapish and last well..I've never actually tried the os P series myself as they are always full price..once I run out of novarossi plugs I might get some but they are the standard plug most people use....must be good..

I use McCoy MC-8 with 2 washers on my standard head.
They actually last longer than the OS A5's.

I've had really good luck with the Go #6 and #5 plugs on our .25.

Hi slakr - Run the turbo head and plug in the GO 5 Port for sure (especially in truggy). I have run both types on the 5 Port and there is a performance edge over the standard head button and plug.
For the turbo head the OS P3 or P4 plugs perform very well in the GO's, as they seem to like a fairly hot plug. Not the cheapest of plugs these days, but what is a couple of dollars if it makes a noticable difference in performance
Standard head the GO#5 is sweet.

I would say that you are close. When the motor reaches the point where it starts to free up. (usually around the 1 gallon mark) You should be able to re shim it down to the race height. For mortals around .025 deck height. I read somewhere back you can go as low as .019-.021.

Thanks man I will take the extra shimms. What is a safe measurement for racing? I race 30% fuel. Buggy rc8.

for the guys that use the go .21 5 port in a buggy, what springs are you guys using.to tame the bottom,i already bought the 086 pipe,to help it, should i use 1.0 or .9 springs.iam going to put it on a cen matrix fre with 5,5,2 in the diff.should i get a smaller restrictor.iam on a budget and i dont want to spend money experimenting when i could try a set up that works with you guys.i bought this engine used before i realized this was better for a truggy.but i got a good deal so i want to make it work. thanks

Hi meno222. Nothing wrong with the 5 Port in a buggy. A lot of guys run the 5 Port in their buggies and love it. Set up all depends on the size and design of the track you run and the traction you are getting off the circuit.
The 086 or GO 0801 is the pipe to use on the 5 Port, so you are sweet there. Your diff oils sound OK (don't go any more than 5 in the centre). Maybe go to 1 in the rear.
If you want to tame things down a little and get better run times put a 7 mm restrictor in (6.5 if you really want to smooth the motor out). Shoes and springs all comes back to the track and surface you run. Really loose and slippery, .9 springs and maybe carbon shoes. Lots of traction, 1.1 springs and alloy shoes. Compromise, 1.0 springs and alloy shoes.
I currently run 1.1 springs with alloy shoes and 6.5 mm restrictor on my modded 5 Port and it is smooth and drivable on our medium sized, sometimes dusty and relatively tight track. Just experiment with these base settings until you find what works for you.

I love the 5PT on my MBX6 with the Go 0801 pipe, have all the power when I want it! I'm using Ofna blue CnC shoes with 1.0 springs and the Go 7.0 restrictor.
