Hey Adrian, how goes it buddy. Talking of broken motors - my 7 Port has expired :cry:
The wrist pin clip either broke or popped out and got caught in the exhaust port before travelling the full length of the bore whilst attached to the side of the piston - arrghhhhhh :flaming: Was checking buggy over the other day and noticed a distinct lack of compression in the motor (no wonder !!). Strip down revealled a big gouge in the piston and sleeve. So it's a rebuild coming up. I think it was my fault, as I recently replaced the rod and maybe didn't seat the clip properly. Darn this failing eyesight as you get older :( An expensive but well learned lesson. It's a real bummer as the motor had just done 2 gallons and was really starting to scream at the last ARCCC meeting.
Lucky I have my MMods Stage 5 5 Port to break in, which eases the pain considerably :nod: It sounds nasty even after only 3 tanks :sneaky:

I had the same thing happen to me with my 7 port @ 1.75 gallons before I had a chance to change the rod. The engine seized with the clip stuck between the piston and sleeve.

Has anyone tried the Associated Factory team 2035 pipe on a 7 port yet? If so, how does it compare to the 0801 and the 053?

they work OK the bottom feels a little weak compared to the 0801 top end is about the same but the run time is better with the 0801

my favourite combo for the 7PT is still the Go or Hong nor 2047 with a long header pipe, either the RB 98mm or the header from the 0801 pipe set

the combo really brings the bottom end to life without losing top end or run time

Congrats to Kendall Welch for winning the Minnesota Nitro series 1/8 scale buggy pro championship. He used Go 7 and 5 port motors in his Kyosho buggy. It's a tough series, most of the top ten in the series have chassis sponsors.

Hi, for the next week i will be on vacation in florida and i would like to pick up a Go tech 5 port engine somewhere. Can anyone give me one/some rc shops in florida where i can go for that? We will do a tour by car between Miami and Orlando.

so how r the standard 3 port motors peformance,fuel mileage and relieabilty i know u cant have much at 125 bucks. but i thought i would ask.

i think the standard 3 port is an rtr motor, for $60 more you can have the race 3 port which is ballistic. don't skimp on motor cause you are just gonna get a nother one anyways, get a good one to start.

what does the nova rossi carb do to te go motors? i've heard "they really wake up" and "they are easier to tune" but all i got was less run time and a slightly larger tuning window, i'm going back.

hmm. It's not bad. I ran it all season. Although I did struggle with a tune for a time.

My understanding is the diff between the standard and teh race is the plug type.

there is a big difference between the 3 pt sport and the 3pt r spec not just the head type

they have different carbs, crank, crankcase, sleave etc.

The 3pt sport is an ok budget motor and with the addition of a turbo head button are pretty reliable but I would spend the extra and get the R-spec as it's a lot more of an engine.

a $15 dollar part can't make up the $60 dollar difference between the Sport and the Race engine. The race engine is.. well, Race Tuned, the carb is different if i'm not mistaken, the crankcase in the Race is black, etc.

I had to run a rossi carb on my 7port while I was waiting for some new orings to come in stock and I found the same thing, my run time dopped by about 30-40 seconds and the only real advantage was the slightly increased tuning window -but it's got a Go carb back on it now.:D

The 3 port sport is a great motor for the money. ($115.00 is Map) it uses the same crank, rod,piston, block, bearings. The carb is aluminum, head is smaller and the block doesn't have as much milling internally. The sleeve has just basic cuts in it, I modded one a while back and it was really fast. I never really raced it but me and my son were on a 100x60 dirt oval playing around and he had his 5 port and I had my modded 3 port sport. It was pretty much a dead heat.
