no im not bashing i dont get my kicks from sitting in front of a computer screen arguing no one runs them on my track you hear nothing about them in mags iwill say they have been at a few tracks i have traveled to but honestly they would charge the same amount as high end engines if they where that good. thats all im saying i just get tired of people asking a recommendation on a engine and it turning into a go tech thread.

most of the "big name motors" have too much power anyway. I have 3 gallons on my 7 port, and loved every tank. I only run mine 5 gallons, and if it lets go tomorrow, I will buy a new one monday

ya your right but i do disagree i guess go tech does contribute back they have a contingency program right. and if anything if i was the vp for a company i would easily send 2 or 3 engines to a mag for testing wouldnt that be the best way for pub and get getting your product mainstream? maybe i should just try one out and for power yes your right way to much i have been thinking about putting a .18 in my buggy if not for runtime then for traction control!!!

Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, the other companies are just charging too much? Being based in Europe doesn't help. Things are really expensive over here, not least of all labour, cost of living, etc.
Maybe they just milking it, becaause they know people will pay the money for what they call a top end engine. Maybe Go Tech are just selling a good engine at a good price? I am mighty impressed with my Go 21 5 port and prefer it over the RB I have in my Revo anyday. That thing is just a pig. |
Go engine is good for lower budget group .It's a good engine no doubt but if you really know how to calculate then it's not as cheap as it is from the display.I had one i had to run in 3 gallons before i can really tune it thenm by the 4th gallon the engine is almost dead so which one do you guys think is cheap if you compare RB.If for beginners the engine is not being compared for the smooth running so they don't really run in the engine but straight to playing with it.

You dont need to run 3 gallons on a go tech before race tuning it. Mine is running great at half a gallon. You just wont see max fuel econemy until the gallon and a half mark.
When you see a thread about which engine is best and people recommend the Go tech maybe you should think there is a reason they are recommending it. People and word of mouth is the most effective advertising anyone can get. I dont trust any magazine reviews because of the direct fact that the reviews are done for companies that advertise with that magazine. And magazines are biased they will never give a bad review on anything for fear of loosing advertising revenue. |
I hope to start race tuning my 5-port today! I went through most of the break-in already and it's looking pretty good already!
As far as the discussion at hand, here is my 2 cents: Reviews in magazines do help getting the name out more, but they are biased for sure! A little more advertising in the mags would help, because I didn't know about the contingency program until going through this thread.... And I hadn't known about Go Tech's great engines without this thread... |
going off the subject at hand i live in az and its 90 plus right now should i be running cold med or hot plug ive been running a med for a while now just need some ideas i was never good at plug info thnx will g

cant remember seeing if anyone mentioned the write up in xrc magazine on the .25 motor ? that was a write up and it was in a popular magazine ...just curious if ya'll saw that ?
the gotech motors so far for me have been right on time .. quality+price+awesome performance+customer service from race factor +beating modded nova 821's down the front straights = my bussiness for a long time to come ....just my.02 in a long string of .02's I run a 5 and 7 port at different times and have had no real probs except for the 3 gallon carb wiggle which racefactor is taking care of for me as we speak customer service and support go a long way in my book and thats what you get with go motors :nod::nod: |
Ok, now I know something ain't right.
Took the car out today with my Go 21 in and was running in great. Had the same old problem of it not wanting to rev up and clear out until after a long straight. Tuned that out, just and went for a few laps, bought it in to check on head temps and they measure 380F???????:flaming: I know temp guns aren't that accurate, but come on, that is ridiculous. This was the best the engine has run ever, stonking bottom and top end, and still good smoke coming out. I also had the body off for additional cooling as the tank before it had read 310F. I took everyones advice regarding the HSN and LSN, so at this point, my HSN was in about 1 1/2 turns from flush and the LSN was in about 2 1/2 turns. I am also running Byrons Gen 2 which should be cooler???:mad: Where am I going wrong? I read on here how you guys are getting 10 mins + runtime and only temping at 220F, how? The ambient temps were only about 64F today. Even running rich, I struggle to keep my temps below 250F. Oh, and my engine is sealed too, so no chance of leaks on the carb and the back plate. Idle is rock solid, although after about 15 secs idling it cuts, whereas before it would idle like a champ for over 30 secs and still pull away. |
If your blowing good smoke and the engine is performing well, I would say your temp gun is wrong.
