Sign of the times.......

RTR petrol motors are the big push at GO these days.

Seems to me the tsunami of Taiwanese engines flooding the markets has subsided and is heading back out to sea.

Too many hands in too many pockets making too many engines using the same parts with different names on them.
Customers are not stupid. They saw what was happening and got bored with the "clone" mentality that took over the market.

We got that message from our customers a while back, which is why we left before the tide went out.

Its a pity, as there were some good products made, but it just got silly a while back with all the shared parts etc.
You couldn't call the product you imported your own in the end, as it's crank, carburettor etc was popping up on everyone else's engines.
I know that's how it works in Taiwan, but in my opinion it just cheapened the whole Asian engine scene and put customers off.

Just my slant on it obviously......

My GX-II Plus has been absolutely amazing so far. The mileage is incredible. Ton of power, too. These have to be the most underrated engines out there, at least in America.

Getcha one.

Yep, nice little engine once you get past the piston / sleeve tolerance issues at break in.

We imported and sold the GO range for around 6 years or more I guess.
Best engine they ever made was the GXII 5RHO (the predecessor of your current GX II Plus).
Cracker little engine that did everything asked of it - but then it all went pear shaped as far as design, supply and direction of thought.

Hopefully it will all get back on track for the faithful, and the thread will fire up again.
It was once the most prolific and one of the longest running threads on here I think.
I know there are hundreds of posts from us on here from back in the day :-).

I must say go make good engine n this thread has been very helpful. Hope it will produce something diff' in future.

I dont see other manufacturers with new design or porting, just old stuff being modified n sell as 'new' engine

That's exactly the sort of thing I was getting at Jordan.
It's a look that cheapens the whole range.

That's going back a few years Kaptain.

Yes, the GX7R was a beautiful buggy motor. Super smooth with obscene top end
Those were good days with GO. The very successful 3 Port, 5 Port, 7 Port GXR series leading into the long run of success with the new GXII-5RHO line was their hey day no doubt.

We sold bundles of all those motors to a very happy customer base during that era.
The wheel turns, and hopefully something like those lines will come around again in the near future for the GO faithful

Default 21-2205 to 21-2205x

Is it possible to swap between this 2, the old 21-2205 is out of stock, the shop recommend me have 'x', which is after gx series. Any mod needed for this installation?

Well there you go !! Good to see Rich is on the ball

Either they have dug deep into the back of the warehouse, or they have realised the error of their ways and have re tooled for new production runs of the mighty little 5RHO.
That's good news for GO fans.

Try and get a hold of a .2mm sleeve uplift shim (Rex - 22Racer on here) was putting them out back in the day. Increased the performance of the GXII-5RHO quite markedly by raising the ports a fraction.
We had some made up locally here and they worked a treat. Cheap and very effective power boost.

Not sure. I've never been one for swapping old things into new, or new things into old.

By using mis-matched parts you will never know if your getting 100% out of the engine or not.
Just go with what the factory put together as far as sleeves / crankcases etc. They matched those parts for a reason.....
