Round 2 of the UF1 series coming up on the 10th @ NORA.

10am Start of practice
11:30 Qualifying and Racing

I've also been asked a bit about the new LMP car from Speed Passion and if there is room in the UF1. Right now there is definitely room in the series to add another class. That said I would not make it the same format as the F1 races. My thoughts right now so as to not make the day a complete Endurance run is to have a single Qualifier and maybe a 20min race with Qual position, grid and race position split the same as we do in UF1.
I am arranging to get one of the LMP's here for everyone to fondle and drool over and if there is interest we can set up a group buy to knock a few $$$ off the cars. As I understand it theres also a few body options in the pipeline so there would certainly be options.
Brad @ F1Paintlab is also working on some livery options so you'll be able to do your favorite current and past options for Teams.

I'd like to keep the class a low cost option to encourage new drivers to the RWD chassis. So along those lines we could look at a spec speedo motor combo and depending on the tires when released possibly a spec tire wheel combo also.

Thoughts?

See you all on the 10th. Also Crosier says he cannot make it something about grandkids and family blah blah(j/k).... He has said he has his car ready for someone to arrive and drive to fill in for him if you want to come out and give UF1 a go for the day, let me or Mike know.

Yes it's a natural for all all of us racing RWD
We tried it in UF1-CA with awesome results!
Check the video, as the second half of the race came in the lights of the venue (TQ) when half way so headlights/rears were indispensable

So are we talking 190mm f103GT style or will the 200mm f103lm cars be ok. I know the speed passion cars can go either way.

Personally I'd like to see the SP chassis and bodies but it's not just my series. I know there's a lot of Tamiya parts in pitboxes out there that makes it easier to run Tamiya but the new car is supposed to be wider and I'd like to keep the scale/size and looks the same.

so whats the width of the new SP, I though it was the same 180-200mm adjustment as their f1.
I think it would be cool to see a range of old 103lm, group c, 103GT, parma, bolink and assorted pan conversions along with the ready made SP package. So long as we limit width and restrict to GTP/F1 type rubber along with realistic LMP/GTP/CanAm bodies all the cars should be about the same.

cla
+1 / This is similar to the way we ran it - with quite a successful attendance.

[IMG][/IMG]

Our specifications were loose but with emphasis on keeping scale looking cars.
1. Scale looking cars a must (no serpents or pan car style/paint bodies)
2. Motor/ESC/...etc: Open
3. Tires: any rubber (only)
4. 2WD Chassis (only)

LEDs where not obligatory but when the venue lights when out, if your car did not have them... you were in trouble

Cheers!

Still don't have a final price hoping to see at least $10 knocked off the kits. These days kits don't have much margin for Dist to help discount them.

Mark, Marcos I know it's yet another kit but my thoughts were that we would have similar cars and not have a tire war of people bringing in whatever tire or option part to have a car that is possibly runaway faster. You also stop people from choosing wrong if they built a 103 or 104 or SP to find out its not fast or whatever and now they are in another full chassis kit plus parts etc. Parts would be easier for all running the car due to everyone running the same car. I know you can say that about the 103 cars also but the tire choices are far greater and even saying F1 rubber leaves a wide disparity in what's available from 103 and 104 tires.
Besides chassis I'd like to see a spec tire when they are available so that a complete box of tires is not required to test and tune.

Very a spec class with open tire would be cool. Would it still be a 21.5 motor or would it be different. I think I would be down for either open chassis or spec chassis, I think it would be a competitive class either way.

Not sure on motor until we get the cars but in the past the body added a good bit of downforce so maybe 17.5 to have a little more HP to go with the 20min drive time

Spec tire makes sens

Here is a body / chassis that was made out of parts I had around, I'm sure most 2wd owners also have old parts like this available.

This one can be fitted with F104 or F103 size rubber and just about any power combo.

Instead of limiting specs maybe the rule can go something like: "Up to 17.5T" and let people accommodate/use what we have (Less $$$ more fun

For example, I have some 23T brushed Tamiya's Super Stock than go 1 on 1 with a stock 17.5 and that I could run without the need to spend on a 17.5 system (Not sure they can last 20' but It would be fun testing it)

Just my .02

Times are still 10:00AM start for Sunday?
What time do you think will be done?
