2 things:
1-Will VTA/SS be 21.5 or 25.5?

B- I assume my old 2 wire transponder will work. Could someone please verify?

21.5 but they call it gt-3 not scale spec. so run what ever tires you want. im guessing. and i think your 2 wire transponder should work.

I'm 99.9% sure that older AMB transponders, as well as 2-wire MyLaps "hybrid" transponders work on pre-RC4 tracks, along with the MRT transponders. For RC4 tracks the AMB and 2-wire MyLaps work, as well as 3-wire MyLaps but NOT the older MRTs.

I think

It's been a long time since I've run a class that didn't have a spec tire. Now I gotta dig into my tire box and think... this is gonna be interesting.

The GT3 class is 21.5, 25.5 or silvercan. most people run VTA tires, but any tire will do. There are some that run the "B3" Tamiya tire in getting a car setup for the TCS race. As far as bodys, almost everyone runs a spec or VTA body, the spirit of the the class is no touring car bodys (17.5 style) that is for GT2 and GT1.

The decoder has been upgraded. It was upgraded last year before the start of the season(same time as the Hanger), we has some problems in the beginning with it. If it works at the Hanger, it will work at galaxy. None of the older MRT's will work. I don't know about the newer MRT's. I have been using the older AMB 2 wire and the hybrids.

Galaxy is just about having fun and there is a big variety of people in the classes (kids, people that just race every now and again to hard core racers and TCS champs) Tim is running the program again this year with some help from Derek this weekend. Tim and Ty did great job running the program last year and everyone chips in to help when needed. My son and I have a great time, come out and have some fun also.

It'll be interesting to see 21.5, 25.5 and silver can in the same class. Are there usually A and B mains, then, and is there a reshuffle before the 2nd qualifier? Just trying to understand what I should be expecting.

Yes, please don't bring another generator to the track. I use a 35 amp-hour AGM (deep cycle) battery and that's more than enough for a couple of racers. Such a battery goes for about $60, surely less if they have them at Costco. Keep it on a maintainer charge over the winter and it will last for many years.

Adam, there is really not that big of a difference like you might think between the 3 motors. Due to the size of the parking lot there is not a huge back straight and there is a ton of pollen on the ground that has not washed away yet, more power might not be that much better.
GT3 is one of the biggest classes but there is usually not more than 10 cars (except TCS) on a regular day. mini is the other big class, followed by F1. There is usually about 25 cars entered on a day. And there is a big variety of drivers in each class also. So a little patients is the key to having fun. Hope to see you out there.
