Use the 17.5 buggies at Vintage Nats as evidence of that.

If you guys really want a budget class to save money just ask me and I'll point you in the right direction. But don't waste my time unless a group of you are serious and don't mind running a true "spec" class.

I'm interested. What do you have in mind?

Ok,, for those out there who think they are truely interested in a "spec" class,, let me give you a bit of insite on what is involed in a true spec class,, i have run one in rc before and also in go karts,, both produced VERY competative racing,, A spec class would involve picking the class to run(sc, buggy, ect) next, electronics, Everyone runs the SAME motor,,speed control should be left to a no boost rule,, a budget 3800 lipo?(everyone runs the same brand pack,,Tires,, pick a tire that everyone thinks would be the best comprimise between traction and longevity(losi used to have a great idea for spec tire with their blue tires). Radio open,,Finally a gear rule must run a fixed gear ratio,, i also think that the vehicle would have to meet a minimum weight,,again,, these are rules that i have seen with "spec" classes,, just offering them to those that are interested in the thought,,,, the only problem with the idea of this is that there is more money to be spent on an intial investment of motor battery and speed control and tires,, and then keeping track of some kind of tech on the vehicles and rules,, Mark feel free to throw in your thoughts on what a spec class should be just so everyone can get an idea of what they are looking at. And im not saying that i am at all interested in this idea at the moment,, just putting out the info.

You bet!!!
But the forecast is not looking good right now.

Was actually thinking about coming Saturday since I missed wed night due to the snow. But I spent the hole day Saturday and part of Sunday shoveling snow off the roof of the house.

This winter sucks! If I find the guy who prayed for all this snow I'm going to ring his neck!!!!

I must admit, although I don't ask God for snow, I do thank HIM for it among many other things...

A stock spec 2wd buggy class would be awesome, it would make the transition from sportsman to Mod buggy and from SCT to Mod buggy a lot easier....

You pretty much covered it Steve. The the spec equipment would be the best compromise of cost, wear, reliabilty, and performance.

Racers that like to buy the latest and greatest new stuff would be dissapointed, and sponsorship wouldn't have much value.

Spec equipment would only be changed if something were discontinued

Hey guys,
What are some of the popular short course (17.5 2WD) tires for the indoor track?

Usually, racers want to buy the "latest and greatest" so bad, that the spec classes self distruct. It takes racers that honestly want a true spec class to make one successful.

I like the idea that the stock classes be spec, but the people in the hobby are too divided anymore for it too work.

JConcepts Barcodes or tires with similar tread pattern work very well at RCHR, JC Double Dees are also very popular in SC...

Well I guess this will be a dead issue. There is no way were going to get 5-10 guys to commit to buying all new gear and then ACTUALLY sticking with it.

Team Losi driver Dustin Evans won the Reedy Race of Champions with the Twenty-Two 2wd buggy and the XXX-4 4wd buggy. Very impressive win for the new 2wd buggy.
