Hey Jeff first off Merry Christmas, In our weekly club racing we run "open" buggy but with that said 17.5 is very competitive with the mod guys and very often its 17.5 buggy that will win. if we have a night that we have enough 17.5 and mod buggies we will split them up but only if the racers want to. on our trophy races we do run stock buggy and mod buggy with some 17.5 drivers doing double duty with there car running in mod also.
as far as a great buggy to start with i would highly recommend the Team Associated B5 platform both rear and mid motors are running very well at a cost of $240ish for the rear and $260ish for the mid (sorry about pricing i'm home lol) .. also the TLR 22 2.0 is another good car.
if you have any other questions please feel free to ask here or you are welcome to pm me.
thank you for your interest and time, Jay
