Hi, what nights and time is your track open for practice? I'm just starting out in this hobby and I'm not looking into racing yet, just want to drive my 1/14 around on a track. And does it get crowded during practice nights?

Had I known they would hold true to their entry limits I would have signed up earlier. I've been to or have registered for a few races in the past year where the entries have been well above the original published maximums and I wasn't willing to chance it on this one. Mongo can't and won't do 18 hour days any more.

well next year. i first went two years ago, when they raced stock sct, 4wd sct, and mod sct along with all of the 1/8 classes on the 1/8 track. it was nuts. 4wd sct qualifying didn't get done until after 1am on sat. last year was much better, as they moved the stock sct and mod sct to the 1/10 track and left 4wd sct and the 1/8 classes on the 1/8 track. everything was much smoother, except trying to get practice in mod buggy or 4wd buggy was crazy, as the lines for practice was nuts. but at least you got out at a reasonable time after qualifiers. this year, with the cap, everything should be much better. plus, you can watch motocross between your heats!! awesome.

i've been going for the last 2 years. scotty's always ran the 1/8 side and charlie sacunga (not sure of last name) ran the 1/10 side. bot are really good announcers. the problem on the 1/8 side is that if you're standing in the side, you can't really hear scotty because of the terrible sound system. it's also real difficult to find out what race is currently running because you can't hear anything. this year, they're supposedly getting a monitor.

on the 1/10 side, the audio system is great. charlie's a real good announce too. definitely pit in the 1/10 side. it's heated, you can hear charlie, and it's not dusty.

so, i think it should be much better this year.

two years ago it was "rc bootcamp", it was insane how late it went friday and saturday nights. by the time we got out everything was closed.
it was then i decided the big events weren't my thing.

Will there be a track change b4 your next Feb trophy race? And what's best tire to run for 2wd and 4wd buggy?

As I understand it, they will tear up the track on Saturday and do a complete layout change. Whether or not the track will be dry enough in time for WNW is unclear (I would prefer if it weren't. Every time there's a layout change and they rush it for WNW, it track gets gouged to hell, but when they wait a week to dry it out, it lasts much longer).

Best tire is a bar tire (barcodes, suburbs, etc.). Soft/super soft when it's dry and clay compound when it's wet/damp (after the track is watered). Usually, if your race/heat is in the beginning of a round, the track is still damp and so you'll need clay compound. As the round moves on, the track dries out and you need to switch to soft or super soft.

Some people have lately been running very shallow pin treads (e.g., Pro-Line Ions) in super soft compound. I frankly consider this a waste of money. Those tires are no different in price, but they last about two runs before they go bald. Just another way for the tire manufacturers to milk you. Stick with a bar tread. Much longer tread life and more than enough traction.

had fun racing last night. some good racing in 4wd sct. everyone's getting real fast in 4wd buggy. I gotta do some tuning to get it back up to speed. My front diff is getting real temperamental. I've had to tighten it down during each of the last 2 races. Hopefully, this last time did the trick. We'll see.

Hey guys, thanks for coming out to race last night. Here are the results

http://rchr.biz/2014/01/30/wednesday...orlds-1292014/

Yes we will be putting down a completely new layout this weekend. There is a schedule change. We are going to cancel racing sat and instead get to work on the track first thing.
I'll post updates to the racing schedule on Monday.
