Not a problem Just send my way a 950 equipped with the Novamega engine and that will do just fine Else, the lens can also do

Better send both the 950 and the lens - just to make sure you don't get an ichy trigger finger

Still tempted by the serpent.at prices on the 950 - seem very low - maybe there is a kit with hop-up parts coming out and they want to get rid of the old stock.

Maybe... I don't know which one they are offerring. Apparently there are 2 versions of the 950 kit... One is a team kit (902000TC) and the other is the normal one (902000). The team kit apparently contains a lot of goodies.

Serpent are so much cheaper than all the other compaines I've looked at

rccarinternational.com - 630 +20% tax + shipping (more than 750 Euro)
pro8.de - 598 +16% tax + shipping (more than 700 Euro)
serpent.at - 560 all taxes inclusive!!!!!!

They are nearly 200 Euro cheaper than rccarinternational!!!!!!!!

Boy-oh-boy!

Well, serpent updates or releases new cars almost every year. If you check car list and the cars releases dates, under "products" at mytsn.com, you will see what i mean.

04−01−99 streetspec
01−07−00 streetspec 2speed
30−11−01 impulse pro
06−09−02 s705
09?-03 s706???

This, i think, also aplies to their 1:8 scale cars. Serpent seems to have released different versions (updates) of Vector and Veteq before making the 950. With a mrx 4 rumoured i dont think it is impossible that they will make 950->951. But the 950 seems to be doing very good however.

Yep this is true - we had a discussion here about this not so long ago. I accept that updates may occur quickly, so I may end up buying something that is quickly replaced. At the end-of-the day these are racing cars and Serpent wants to be as competative as possible.
The 950 is very attractive, as it is said to be so easy to setup and had a very wide sweet spot - something which may not be guaranteed by a newer model.

If serpent.at were selling the 950 at discount to make way for a new model, then the others would have probably also made this offer - what is strange is that it is only serpent.at who are making the offer.

Cheers, Mark.

I'm sure the model numbers will remain the same (mostly because the numbers refer to the model type and chassis width), but they will surely release updates as a "200X Spec" kit, as they did previsouly with the Vector and Impact.

I don't mind SO much that they update often... At least it shows the company's interest to keep improving its products. If the updates could be offered in kit form at a reasonable price (i.e. not so expensive that you're better off buying the new kit!), I think that most racers would rather take this approach than to try to chase down all the individual parts.

If the update if a MAJOR one that makes an update uneconomical(as in Impulse Streetspec to 705), It would be nice to have a "heads up" so as not to feel betrayed when you buy a new kit only to find that a new model is about to be released.

This is my current dilemma... I have a Streetspec with all the upgrades I felt were necessary that I could find(shock towers, aluminum braces - gave up months ago trying to find a Centax locally ), and would like to get a 705, but all these rumours have me anxious ...

There is to be a 705 replacement coming shortly - one of the Serpent guys said as much in the mytsn.com forums. When asked about the rumours of a 705 replacement, he simply said, "well that would be telling ", or words to that affect.

I would wait for the new version - it shouldn't be long until it comes out.

Mark. It wasnt one of the "serpents guys" who said that at mytsn. One mytsn member had asked a Serpent (USA ?) rep and the mytsn member was told that. No "offical confirmation" in other words...

Just nitpicking

However, I would wait until after the chicago hobby show and see what is announced there before deciding on anything.

Well, I hate to nitpick, but you should read the posting for yourself:

http://www.mytsn.com/forums/forum.as...8585&sm=0&fi=1

It comes direct from a Serpent employee:

EOGHAIN O'BRIAIN (NL) 24−07−03 at 15:01
I look forward to your feedback.

Developments on the 705.....well that would be telling now wouldn't it

Eoghain
Cheers, Mark.

Well on another note, Herb has said something about a hudy/xray nitro tourer both here and at trinity techtalk... Xray will announce 2 cars at Chicago, one which will seems like a mirco car... But the other? I guess a new electric tourer but you never know.

Mark. That is about "Developments on the 705" regarding the question "upgrade for 705" not a "replacement for the 705". My nitpicking still stands
