Scott - Why does spektrum get impounded at races?

--------------

I like the feel of my JR XS3 radio, and I feel the EX10 will be a natural upgrade. It'd be nice to have the ability to switch from spektrum, to the regular setup of running synthesized radio/receivers, by means of a simple switch. Is it easy to install and remove the spektrum? I really hate to waste all that money on my synthesized receivers.

I may just upgrade to the M11. The M8 has been out for around 4-5 years correct? Looks like the M11 is a worthy upgrade. Only thing I didn't like about the M8/M11 series, is the bulkiness (if that's really a word) of the unit. I like how the JR/KO Propo radio's are sleek.

Decisions, decisions....
Spektrum gets impounded at races because of fairness. If some racers do not have access to their radios, then none of the racers have them.

Oh I see. That sucks. I would think if people are running spektrum, they wouldnt need their radios to be impounded since they won't be conflicting with any frequencies. Oh well, thanks for the heads up. Anyhow, since I only run club races, it shouldn't be a problem.

went to the hobby shop, held some of my buddies radio's.and the helios felt just right for my hands.the m8 was a little top-heavy,the 3pk also a bit heavy, the helios just has the right balance
u went to hold a brand new M8 and it was top heavy? did it have batteries in the bottom? i can balance the m8 on 1 finger where i hold the m8. its the best balanced controller on the market.

fair? so if you want to run with bald tires, crap engine, bad setup...etc then you must then expect everyone else to suffer too???

the club here recognises the expense and the convenince people get when they buy spektrum. the more people who buy it the better, less chance of conflict.

the club here announces before the race "radio impound unless you got spektrum"

uuuum no, i race at a few clubs and they all say the same thing...

they recognise the reason for impounding is coz of radio conflicts, with spektrum there is no need..... a bit of common sence really....

I got tired of waiting for JR to print new labels for the KO radio... so I bought the AM moduled KO and set the module on the shelf and went with the spektrum. Under $200 for the radio and since I was converting to Spektrum the band didn't matter. Works perfectly. Love the jog dial....

I went ahead and bought the EX10 with spektrum. Looks like an awesome radio with some really great features.
