The 4th position is not exactly official but seems to be working for a lot of 960 drivers out there.
Only use the spacers for the lowest hole on the tower.

I think the Serpent oil is thick compared to anything else out there.

Did you start the build on your car yet?

All 30wt oils from everyone except trinity are very close. When you start to go up in Serpent oil the gap seems to grow for example: 40wt serpent is like 70wt AE, 45wt serpent is close to 100 wt AE. I would just stick with serpent oil so you are consistent with everyone running the car.

Also notice the bodymount position and take care of the rear rollcenter inserts, they should be to the outside and downwards.
question does that shock set up help you on large sweeping turns .is that why its done?

More stability.

With the shocks down damper movement is minimized as well as the spring (less movement less reaction resulting in a stiff damper system). In general we see that it does not ad positive responce on curvey tracks. With the damper fully up (3rd position) you introduce more damper movement and more spring effect. What we see now is that this generates a jumpy car on tracks with high speed hairpins.

We tested this position a lot lately and it introduces more stability on the rear of the car. You know that the 960 is eager to break-out on hairpins. What you should do is to "loosen" the rear-end by several means.
This is one of three modifications to get rid of this behaviour, the rear end should follow the front in all circumstances. For the other two you have to wait ...

Default Fine Tuning

Hey Guys,

I am new to the 1/8th scale this year. Started with a 950R for a few months and now running the 960. I have the car pretty well dialed-in, but I am still having a bit of trouble with the rearend. It seems to kick out on me off throttle, near mid-turn, and more when on power exiting the corner. Here is my setup. I would like any input you guys might have.

Thanks!

Gearing - Spur 45/48, Pinion 16/19
Middle pulley - 24
Shocks - 45 wt 3 holes, purple springs front and 35wt 3 holes yellow springs rear, Fronts in the upper holes, Rears in 3rd lower position
Anti roll Bars - 70 deg front, 0 deg Rear
Tires - BSR 35/45 shore fronts 67mm, BSR 35 shore rears 74mm
Engine - Nova EVO6 - #7 plug and 30% O'donnell with a 8.5mm carb
Body - Protoform T530
Roll Center - Zero spacers upfront, inner hinge pin all the way down for the rear
Downstops - Front 1, Rear 14
Camber - Front 1.0 negative, Rear 3.0 negative
Ride height - 6mm Front and Back
Toe - Front 1 negative, Rear 4.0 Positive
Caster - 1mm in front
Ackerman - #2 long
Track Width - Front 253, rear 262

Thanks again!

With as soft as you are running your rear end, are you sure that on power you are bottoming out, which is then kicking the rear out. Look at the bottom of your chassis in the rear.

Wow ... This is not going to work.
Try to changes your springs to red all-around or if this does not work change to Blue at the front. Put your downstops to 0 - 8 and if you need a lot of on-throttle steering to 2 - 7. Camber must be done based upon your tire wear, front must be flat and rear a bit of a cone (1 degree). Put your Anti roll Bars front and rear flat and then, based upon the ammount of available steering, play with your front arb. Use 45W 3 holes around. Toe-in Rear on 4? Change this to 2! Ride height - 6mm Front and 7mm Back. Try the WOS on the front of the car and also my small modification. If this stiil does not work, send me a PM.
