Re: Re: Engine shimming (quite offtopic?)
Originally posted by hurhur Sad to say, there is nothing on the manual. Any advice from my wise old friend, Manticore? If you run on very humid places I would go up to 0.45mm of chamber height (just to accomodate the extra moisture on the air). BTW: How much nitro? How is your weather (Hot/Cold, Dry/Humid/Very Humid), How much height over the sea level? |

Originally posted by Corse-R I agree on Manticore trick of the soldering wire. Try it and your chamber height should be about 0.38mm and 0.43mm (measure the crushed part of the soldering wire with a digital caliper). Re: Re: Re: Re: Engine shimming (quite offtopic?)
Originally posted by hurhur it is hot and humid here...temp in the range of 32-34 degree celsius. using 25% nitro with no6 plug Control the temperature of your engine with the low-end needle (if it overheats, enrichen the low-end, if temp is OK lean a bit and continue testing). If engine bogs at low-end try to paliate with the spray adjustment (screw it about half turn each time and readjust low-end needle). What we pursue is to paliate bogging making the transition from low-end needle to high-end needle at more rpms. Will need to readjust low-end needle each time you will touch the spray. This weekend I ran with more than 40ºC and needed to go very open on the low-end needle (1 1/2 to 2 turns more opened than the normal conditions). Needed to remove 1 shim to paliate low-end bogging. Normal engine temps were between 110 to 125ºC. |

As far as radios go, I would suggest spending an extra $40, and get the M8 ( $190 radio & module only ). If you are getting such a high quality car, you don't want to skimp on your radio. :) |
cheapest I've seen

As far as the radio, go with the FM Airtronics MX 3. They are around $110.00 KEVIN |
Here is the cheapest place I have found for and MTX3.......
http://www.ultimatehobbies.com I have dealt with Steve at SpeedTech in the past and he is a very good person to deal with. And as for a radio, I would have to agree taht you shouldnt get cheap on the radio system you are going to use. I have use Futaba all the time and to me it seems the best. Especially if you get a 3PJS or the 3PK, cause the radio comes with it own bulit in Failsafes. Which to me is a must have when dealing with such and expensive car. my .02 :D |
So your saying keep the stock first gear 16/47?How about 15/46 (7.747)stock ratio is7.421
