According to Mugen Gear Ratio chart, 17/46 gives a gear ratio of 6.836.

Can somebody please tell me how to calculate this.

Thanks

Default First race with the MTX-3

I raced my MTX-3 for the first time this weekend and won the thirty minute A-main with 81 laps (2 more than the second place car). The car was box stock and I started with the standard set up. I made a few changes to the set up since the car had a little push off power. This car is a joy to drive, it's very stable and a lot faster in the straight than my MTX-2 was, even though I was still running rich (the temp never went over 205F during hard racing). I can't wait to start playing with different gearing to see how much faster this car can go. At around lap 60 I had to sway left and right to avoid hitting NTC3 parts and dead Serpents laying on the track and clipped a corner pretty hard. I lost a front dogbone but I kept on going. The car was still very fast and nimble. I'm the only one racing Mugen at my club and after the race, a lot of people came under my tent to look at the car, hope to get some of them to convert

Lee has 10 of the 3 ports on the way, but you may want to call him because I know at least half of them are spoken for. Does any one know if the rear of the crankshaft will look like the standard S3 or will it be a good one like the NovaMega 2103 RMS( similar to the Novamax just not modified). Manticore have you ever seen the NS run? If so how does it compare to the Sirio.

Default Front Universal

Any suggestion on which brand of universal joint for Mtx 3 is the best? I already had 2 sets of original Mugen brand universal joint and they broke easily. I ve been looking for the K factory brand but I m not sure if its good. Also I m going to start to put hop up parts to my car, so pls advice me on which part to upgrade first also which brand do make the best hop up for this car.

Experiment it is a good idea, but don't push it hard. Know your engine limit and your driving capability. Select the gearing that suit you best at your comfortable driving level is surely a best bet!

One thing though, couldn't you just run over the dead snakes?

I use Mugen CVD w/ no problem.
Manticore uses 3Racing CVD w/ no problem.
MY FRIEND had problem w/ 3Racing and Team Osaka and now stick with Mugen.

You may try 3Racing, but if possible, avoid GPM and K-Factory.

Justrc.com have it. Those small teeth spur/pinion is the 0.8mm gearing set from Mugen. It's not new; Kawahara has these gear set for years.

Keep coming back to this thread, as Manticore and Vinyard will be testing out the 0.8mm gear and will give us the full report.

Manticore and Vinyard, hope I didn't put any burden on your shoulder. Keep writing the report!
