Check page 492 of this thread for a complete listing of part #'s for assembling the front differential.

Thanks, Scott. :) Any opinion on the clutch springs (ie: gold vs. silver)?

I think the dark blues are also 1.7, but are stiffer than the lt blue 1.7's

I have, but have never tried the red clutch although I know some people that prefer it over the grey prospec clutch, which is what I use.

They will probably kill me for posting this, but if you want mugen car info, call Mugen. Robbie and Mike have supplied me with tons of info, that coulpled with my incredible driving skills have give me some very good results. Give Mugen a call, they have always been very helpful, and two of the teams three best drivers (imo) work there.

I have only tried the prospec spring. I would guess, it would somewhat depend on how much horsepower you are running. The slowest engine I run is a stock Mugen x12 (its the only stock I have) but it has more than enough horsepower for that stiff prospec spring. Also, the few tracks I have ever run on, have plenty of traction, once again taking me to a stiff clutch spring.

I can tell you this short story which gave me some insight. When I got started in nitro onroad, I got my prospec kit. I quickly ordered two additional complete clutch kits. This was so I could go to a race, and setup more than one engine/clutch combo so if I had to make an engine change after practice was over, I could do so with the confidence that the entire setup is ready to go for a good qual run. One of the two complete clutch setups I ordered didn't have the thrust bearing or clutch spring in it. I spoke to Mike and he sent out the missing parts. He sent me a thrust bearing and a prospec spring. The note here is that the complete clutch kit comes with all the stock parts. Non-lightened weights, black shoe, and stock spring. I already had the prospec upgrades, but he sent me the stiffer spring anyway. The moral of this story is, if you are running any kinda modern horsepower, go with the prospec spring. If you want to experiment, at least clutch parts are a quick and easy change. Lots easier than experimenting with diff oils.

hey guys.... what's the difference with a 1st gear fine pitch and one that's not.... I need new gears coz it's worn out but I don't know what those "pitch" means. thanx

Jamie Corrado 05-18-2005 02:45 PM

evilsike,
You get slightly more punch with the 0.8 pitch gear as compared to the 1.0 stock one.

That's some great info! WOW Scott! If the X12 is the slowest engine, what else do you have/run?

evilsike 05-18-2005 03:48 PM

thanx jamie..

btw... what was the stock gears? spur and clutch..
I don't race it or anything just simply fun from working 7 days a week

Jamie Corrado 05-18-2005 04:48 PM

evilsike,
The stock gearing(1.0) is16t/20t on the pinions and 47/43 on the spur gears. Or 7.421 1st gear and 5.432 2nd gear. Hope this helps and have fun with the car.

evilsike 05-18-2005 04:57 PM

I'm looking through nitrohouse and they have the fine pitch but all are above 16/20 on the pinion and more(or less) than 47/43

does this also means that the fine pitch pinion will only work on a fine pitch spur gear? I don't mind buying both, I just hope not all of ooptioned gears.
my pinion gears right now is as sharp as a razor blade

thanx again

RichChang 05-18-2005 05:56 PM

Thanks, Scott - that was awesome info.

Here is a stupid question --- which spring is the prospec spring? the silver or gold?

the silver one

RichChang 05-18-2005 06:33 PM

Awesome - thanks!

I just have a few things to finish on the car (mainly true some tires, adjust the suspension settings, and buy some fuel :) ) and I should be ready to race on Sunday!
