Could anyone tell me what the part # is for the front belt that is less prone to stripping?

I was told the Serpent belt is an option too.

KYO FM538B Front Belt (207/Wide Type) will help. 05 bulkheads have adjustable eccentric hub's which help but the best cure is the Empire belt tensioner. Also fresh 16th gear as they wear fast.

Are the urethane belts any good?

We have very few issues with our belts anymore. Both the std and the SP belts are great, I run only the SP belts. With the SP belts Adrien Bertin told me to run the eccenters in rear R on L and L on R 2nd from the back and in the front R on R and L on L all the way forward. I also run the delta hardend alum gear in the front (inside front layshaft). If you run the plastic pulley, it needs to be replaced often, probably every 2-3 times you replace the belt, you need to replace the pulley, this is common on all 1/8th cars. Unless I have a couple hard crashes I rarely go through belts, I usually end up replacing them before they fail.

Without crashes how often do you replace belts. I went thru 3 side 2 front and only 1 rear belt all of last season. I did not replace any unless they looked frayed or failed.

You can run them a long time, but before a long main at a race larger than a club race I usually always chage the front. (nervous habit probably) I think at your track, it would be more often with the bumps. I broke I belt there at the Can Am without hitting anything, but I think it was because I was really pushing it over the left hander (with the bump) before the 180 at the sweeper. At bigger races like the GLC, 301, Nats etc... The car gets 3 new belts for the main. At club racing / regional events I only change the rear belt when I maintenance the brakes 3-4 races. Side belts I do the least. The sides only get changed before finals at big races.

You can run them a long time, I just hate the thought of loosing a main because of a belt. I think it's odd that you go through more side belts, than anything else. The side belts for me, last an eternity.

The other thing you have to do is keep an eye on the small pulley's they build up with road gunk, you have to scrape the pullies clean with an exacto. If the teeth build up with gunk, the brake pully and the small pulley that drives the side belt will prematurely wear the belts. The amount of road gunk depends on how clean the tracks are that you run on.
