I like the alfas on an MTX (very fast)but they are way to ass'y on a serpent and the 2.1 is a flying brick areodynamically. you just need to look at how the tires come off the track after a main to see why the mugen likes an alfa and a serpent does not. the Mugen smokes the rear tires down so it needs more front downforce. the serpent wears tires even so it wants a balanced body like a stratus. don't get me wrong the mazda was pretty good but with my current setup the stratus works better downforce is even at low and high speed.

the friend :) would be one in the same.

Yup, and because I have quite a few new stock left I also tried it here in the UK up until last month (spring, not too warm). I'm afraid the results were not good ... indoors, on the smooth cement it was nearly impossible to get as good a grip as the others and outdoors, it just felt like it never got warm enough for the potential grip that it can provide.

Pyramid, you are right. I think what I'm trying to say is that the difference in grip between cold and warm foams on some brands are smaller than other brands. So for some tyres, you find that you're closer to optimum grip at the start of a heat whereas with another brand you find the ebst grip coming in later.

To be fair, one must not do this comparison of warm versus cold on the first run with a particular set of tyres because they have not "worn-in" to a particular setting. Do this on the second run. Of course, all this taking into account that equal age of foams, trued or not etc etc.

Ultimately this is only important for a 5-minute heat where you want to get to optimum grip as soon as possible. If you get enough warm up time before each heat then it does not matter either which brand you use ... you'll be able to get warmed up enough. Here at my club in the UK they run the race so efficiently that you're lucky to get 2 laps before each heat! :D

Oh? That's a very experiment. How are you getting the ackerman adjusted? Specially made adjustable steering column? Show us, show us man ... pics please!

Not intended in any bad way to the 710 I love the car so far, I am able to set it up to carry more corner speed than the mugens which currently dominate our track but when I do the car becomes a little "twitchy" or "unpredictable" and is hard to be consistent with.

Well, I wouldn't say that the MTX3's ackerman is "adjustable", its more like "inter-changeable". You'll need to change the steering servo saver to different markings (A,B or C) to get different ackerman settings.

Having said that, Kawahara has just released a hop-up that allows the ackerman to be adjustable in-situ. Looking at it, I don't see why either Serpent or Kawahara can't do the same for the 710. ;)

 Very good analogy Goldfinger ... here's another one : in our RC world then its like some NTC3 boys NOT using their tank inserts resulting in less fuel stops than us using standard 75cc tank right?

Problem is hardly anyone need to refuel in a 5 minute heat though right?
