I would like a starting setup for the 710. Thanks. Are you go to race the weekend? Looks like there should be a big turnout.

25% with no shims? Are you sure?

Good to know the car is working good for you.

I believe Sow&Steady and afm are right on this one. 4 to 5 tanks is not enough especially when nowadays the NovaMega / Novarossi engines come with VERY tight piston / sleeve. I would safely give it about 10 to 15 tanks. Then take the glow plug out. Turn the flywheel and see if there is still any resistance to reach TDC. There will be a pinch just as you're about to reach TDC and that should be good. On the way to TDC should be smooth and not hard to do. If you still find it difficult or there's resistance to reach TDC without the glow plug, your engine is not fully broken in. Second method you can check is to open up and see the inside of the piston liner. The inside liner should be polished up till about 1 mm before the top of the liner where you could see a band of unpoolished metal.

I would already expect that from the Shark inline pipe. Break the engine properly first and then proceed to tune the engine.

I would start richening out about 4 full turns out on the LSN and 6 full turns out on the HSN. Open the sponge filter and set the idle screw to open NOT more than 1 mm at neutral throttle position. Put back the sponge filter. Start the engine. Run it a while on the started box till the engines gets up to temp. It would be difficult as it will be running rich at those settings. Lean out the LSN till the engine RPM at idle rises a little. That's the sweat spot. Once you got that, richen it about 5 to 10 minutes. Start to lean out the HSN till you get a good high rev. Put it on track and fine tune.

The method above will not get your engine raced tuned. It will only help you get to your ball park settings. You still need to adjust the needles at the track but that would be about 5 to 10 minute needle movements.

If you don't know what you're doing, keep the MSN brass needle FLAT against the carb body. Don't touch this.

If you're running the oneway front, start with the stock setup from the kit. Else, you could also give the setups below a try;

http://www.mytsn.com/setups/setup.asp?sid=2366
http://www.mytsn.com/setups/setup.asp?sid=2434
http://www.mytsn.com/setups/setup.asp?sid=2384

If you have the front ball diff, you could try the setup below;

I think you're about there on the LSN. For those who run mod engines, the LSN would be richer but this is to compensate for more air coming intot he carb. I believe your carb comes with a 5.4 mm restrictor. Mod or outlaw engines run without the insert and have about up to 6 mm or more carb diameter opening.

If you're planning to touch the MSN, make sure you know how to rest it back to stock (flat against the carb body). Fiddling with the MSN makes the spary bar needle go further or out of the carb hole. It makes the revs higher or lower and also affects the LSN. If you lean the MSN by 10 minutes, you need to richen out the LSN by the same 10 minutes. MSN affects fuel consumption. The more lean the MSN, the better the middle end of the engine RPM and more fuel consumption.

p/s: Where have you been hiding Mark?

Possible Answers (depending on who`s hat):

Composite body will save you weight,

That`s how manufacturer makes more money

Because they did not come with aluminum !

I'm still using the composite shocks. No problems for me.
