I'm actually not sure if the R303FS runs on HRS or PCM. I'll check with the manual in the LHS.

I think it runs on FM only. I remember that the 3PM run the same HRS receiver (FM) as the 3PK while for the normal FM, it uses the R123F receiver. So I guess then that the R303FS is FM...

I'll send Futaba an email to find out if it will work, or if they're making one for PCM.

Looks good though except for the conrod. Like I mentioned, put the piston sleeve in the JP engine and turn the flywheel. Perhaps get a spare JP conrod to replace this one since it is wise to have a spare conrod anyways for the JP. Don't forget to get the circular clips too that locks the pin in the piston.

:D Cool! Actually just tried fitting the piston into the liner and I've got it stuck
I'll have to clean the bearings - do you know what lube should be used with them?
I've got lots of those clips - serpent ones, but they should be universal, I would have thought.

try this!

Heres a idea sell the Serpent and get a Mugen:lol: ..............................What do you mean get a roap ? It was a joke I tell ya:eek:

That'd be pretty cool - then I could race competatively with all those guys I laped six times yesterday

Root cause found!

D, you assumption was correct, the crankshaft is bent!  It wasn't really obvious to see at the end of the crankshaft, so I screwed an extra long m3 screw into the end and then span it again - then I could see a small but significant deflection!!! Man, that Mugen must have made a one in a million hit on my crankshaft  I'll try cleaning the rest of the engine to make sure nothing else major is broken, then I'll get a new crankshaft - I've got a spare conrod already

Cheers, Mark.

Actually just used another method to confirm the wobble: placed the tip of the crankshaft against a spray can, so the was no gap between the crankshaft and the can - then watched to see if a gap appeared as I spun the crankshaft - sure enough I could see a gap "appear" then "disapear" during the rotation

See pics below and note how small the deflection is!

In these cases, I hate to have to be the bearer of bad news...:(

Woow ! That's very little. I actually did the same method to determine the bent crankshaft. Just didn't know how to explain it in words but I guess you would have figured out how to...;)

Guess what... I knocked the bent crankshaft back to "straighten" it out with a plastic hammer. No special tool though. Just by feel and instinct. Have not run or tested it out yet.

I used the Serpent Bearing Oil on the last time I changed the internal bearing of my Max. I used to use a thicker motor oil (Mobil 1) but I figured that the bearings only need lube during starting at low RPMs and that the fuel should already provide lube through the castor and synthetic lube after that.

Yes, if you bought them from Serpent / NovaMega, then they would fit the same for the Novarossi engines.
