True, but unless he found an 18t 1st gear pinion, he would have a 5 tooth gear split on the clutch bell (17/22), and a 3 tooth gear split on the trans (43/46). You can not mesh that big of a gear difference.

Find a clutch bell from a buggy/truggy with higher/bigger pinoin gears.
HPI has clutch bell/pinion gear combo up to 24t.
Losi has a clutch bell up to 26t.Have fun..

It depends on the track. I have both the GT1 and GT2. There are some tracks where my GT2 runs like a champ (usually bigger, less technical, open-style tracks) and tracks where my GT1 run like a champ (usually small to medium technical tracks or big tracks with very technical infields or very tight turn sections). However, except for the new Cobra GT, most of the new GT-style cars produced now are being put on the longer truggy chassis.

Other than the Team C GT8L (which there is the short GT8 version), what other GT style car is long chassis? DM-1 Spec, Cobra GT, Xray proto.....all of which are short chassis cars.

The 22t should work fine on a GT car.

The 1/8 Evolva owners have been using these 22T gears for years with no problems. The engine may have to be angled slightly in order to get a deep gear mesh but I believe that it will work fine.

The 22T will give the maximum top speed.

I did not know that Team C had a short chassis GT car (only heard about their long chassis one). Kyosho is only producing the long chassis car now (discontinued the short chassis already). The people I have talked to at RC America (the US Xray distributor) a few months ago said that if Xray officially produces one, it will probably be the long chassis. Don't know if Associated, Losi, or Mugen will ever jump into this market.

I used the long chassis (GT2) at the Byron's Challenge race this past June. Didn't do too bad with it; finished 6th in the A-main after bumping up from the B-main. Personally, I usually lean more to the short chassis but will use the long chassis when necessary.

So if Xray is looking at doing a long GT car, why is Rino's Xray proto a short chassis car? From a research and development pov, that wouldn't make any sense.....

true but if he uses the entire evolva trans (as was the only only upgrade available originally) there is a wider choice of individual spurs, the 008 only has the1 pair available
