actually asd I did the same thing a while back, it took me quite a while to get through the whole thing. This thread has got a lot of useful information - compaq you should have kept reading there is a lot more there than just talk about lsd diff. There is a lot of general shoot the breeze type stuff you have to wade through to get at the meat. It would be nice to see a technical V1R(R) thread and a seperate one for the general chit-chat.

Default Clutch Bell

Hi All,
Can any1 who runs a RBX12 Rear Exhaust motor share with me some info on the clutch bell..?

As we all know that the motor comes with a Cone shape Collar sitting right in front of the outer bearing, do i need to use that?
Or do i have to use the one ship with the kit in the V-1-R? I found the RB collar is bigger then the collar from the V-1-R kit.

I am currently using the one from the kit, after putting on the flywheel, the gap between the flywheel and the crankcase is reduced to like 2-3mm as compared to the RB cone collar which is wider.

However, the clutch bell now is a little loose (some horizontal freeplay) even i have tighten the cap screw on the shaft end.

ANy1 using the collar from the Kit, pls check your clutch bell and kindly reply.

Or should i use the RB collar?

cheers

my thinking is that the clutch bell being loose isn't related to the collet you used. I don't remember which collets I used, I usually just try different collets and shims till I get one that's about right. If your flywheel isn't touching the engine case/bearing and your gearing mesh is lined up you have nothing to worry about as far as your collet. If your clutch bell is loose, well...not sure what to do about that. It can't be that loose because the clutch is in there holding it, it shouldn't be a problem.

Hmm...just saw ur cars..nice job...

yea, the gears mesh up and from the way i look at it, its quite okay except for the clutch bell is a little loose.
Since u r running RB X12 as well, could u check ur clutch bell?

I could check my clutch bell when I get home but unless i'm missing something it doesn't really matter which engine you run. Are you running SG or standard shaft? If it's standard maybe you didn't cut enough of the shaft off? Is the clutch NUT tightened down VERY securely against the flywheel? If so and the clutch itself is not shaved or anything, you should be ok. Is this a new kit?
