On the 22T pinion, I am using Racing Jack Harden pinion, they are tough and it doesnt show any wear on it! Mugen does make 22T 2nd gear pinion for Sting, part number H0717.
on the Spur side I am using Racing Jack Derlin spur too! it is white and suposingly much more durable!

Thanks for the info on the 2 speed. I set the clutch as recomended last night and passed the info to my LHS. Only one other has this setup and he struggled with the setup last weekend. I hope to have the car finished and running weather permitting this weekend.

Thanks for the help Ah10, Motorman and Siokoy. I'll try the gearing and the tire setup that i've read about. Well I hear that 260 is hot too. But I'll try it out. For the nova based engines, how long will it last if you run it that hot? I know i killed a previous OS CVR when i ran it that hot. The sleeve and piston took the brunt of the damage, and after a couple runs, there was almost no compression. (When I was new .. newer, to the hobby)
Is the negative rear diff that much help with the front one way. The prospec has the one way and rear diff, which i'm using, and I'm hearing all these set up problems with it. Just a question from a poor college student, who'd rather eat...
Thanks

Where can I buy Racing Jack Hardened pinions? How much are they? I know the mugen ones are like $16 for one and they wear out quickly. Kind of expensive for one pinion gear.

my engine temps tend to be between 240 and 280. and i get around 6to7 gal's out of each engine before its time for a rebuild. The key to long engine life is proper break in and high quality fule.

I also think 260F is still too hot for the motor. I thought it was 240F.

There are also a few factors too!
1. how are you temping your engine?
2. What kind of temp gun?
3. are you temping the glow plug or heat sink?
if you are temping the heat sink your reading will be higher and if you are temping the glow plug it will be more accurate also the distance between the glow plug and your temp gun.
I am using Reytek infrad temp gun and I push it against the heat sink and shot straight to the glow plug. (the body that I am using allow me to cut a big hole above the engine so I could get the temp gun as close to the head as possible!)
