Been busy with the plug ideas, spent a lot of time studying some buttons, and heads that I had around, but nothing had the same size combustion chamber or had a good fit on to the block/liner, the bolt patterns (pcd) were very close on a number of heads just .5mm out each hole, but in the end I was still concerned about affecting the compression ratio with larger chambers and getting good seating, so desided to go with re-tapping the std head for a regular size plug 1/4-32 thread.
I ended up using an OS A3 hot plug, it has a short thread so with its washer ends up flush at the top of the combustion chamber perfectly (like the std plug does) I have run the engine, and hav'nt had to alter idle or main needle settings which is re-assuring.

thats exactly what I wanted to try,did you have to drill to tap size or was is
large enough to just use the tap itself?
dont forget to try the O.S. A8 plug its slightly hotter and of better quality

Hi Rich, yes I did drill the head, I used a 5.5mm drill.
I hav'nt got an A8 plug to try, but as long as the thread length is close to 4.6mm, then it will sit flush in the combustion chamber, and not effect the burn or compression ratio. (see pic, note I did this measurement with out the washer)

I will have to do that when my plug now is dead.....I'm working on the car now, building it up with the larger Tank to get a 15min run time..I have cut a carbon fiber chassis already and have the tank fitted on the chassis. Tomorow I will finnish the car up. I have a mock up of the upper deck that will be a perfect fit for the new tank. It will look like it was made that way from the factory. I'm still looking into a few things on the car though. I'm thinking about using futaba 9550 servo's and also looking at battery pack options..... I have been taking pictures as I started the car, but had not loaded them into the computer yet. I'm looking for another option for using rear shocks.

Well, after working on the car for about 5 hours, I have my car in rough form right now.....I have the Mock-up done for the top deck, the new battery tray (removalbe from the bottom of the chassis", a new saddle pack (from B&B hobbies...thank you Dave for putting it together...fits perfect!) A new Chassis, 75cc fuel tank, ect.,ect.,ect......
I tried to post a few pictures, but I kept getting an error...The car still needs to have the top-deck cut, its still in Mock -Up stages this weekend.

The matterial used is just for being able to see where everything needs to be put. The chassis was done first, then the top deck was laid out...getting cut in the morning....from thier, it will be back to final assembly... I will have another set of pics when it is done. I used the stock belt covers to keep a "factory" look to the car. when it is completed, it will have less chassis flex.

Well, its done....Except for the rear shocks to be done when they come in. The car has a 5cell 900mah pack mounted under the throttle servo, uses Futaba s9550 and S9451 servo's, Spectrum receiver, XXXnt 75cc fuel tank, custom cut chassis. I tried the best to make the car look as close to a factory look as possible, wanting to keep the belt covers was one of the things that was important to me. Also being able to get to the battery pack was another. This pack was a custom one build by B&B Hobbies, they took the time to make sure I had excactly what I needed.

after this weekend that car will never look the same, the car looks good . thats good you ve been taking a break , i can just imagine what you would have done to the kit if you were had at it.

looks good, I like the single top plate arrangment how did you fit the 5 cells between the tank and engine, I only managed this with a micro servo?

the battery pack is actualy a saddle pack, 2 parts. 3 cells go under the servo and the other 2 are singles. One goes up in an L, like the serpent pack, and the other lays length wise. Its a very tight fit. I also have another pack that is just 3 under the servo, and 2 on the side, placed on the other side fo the belt. I like the second one better, it is a cleaner look. Sorry I dont' have a better picture.
