Default JP Racing RS3 or Rody X12 3port?

Hello Guys,

There have been a lot of talks and comments about the how the Rody X12 is such a strong motor and some people have actually compared it with other 12s around. But we likewise all know that JP Racing makes awesome motors too.

If you guys had to choose between the JP or the Rody 12 motor, which one would you go for? Please be mindful that this thread would emphasize on Legal Version motors ( 3 ports, Non-Turbo Plug, etc. etc.)..

Definately a Rodi every time.

We have several JP's running at our club and to be honest I'm not impressed. I have a JP Rex .21 which is unbelieveably quick but the .12 is not in the same class.

You know I like those orange motors Ron! I'd love to have one, but pricey, hard to find. I need more arm twisting (hint, hint).

I used both engines JP on their S3 version and Rody engine and I must say that the RB has a stronger mid-rpm acceleration and prefeer the Rody engine. JP needs to put serious work on their products to keep the pace.

Looks like the majority vote so far is for the Rody..

But am not sure how different it is, but I heard that
JP will be coming out with the newer updated 2003
version anytime soon.

The thing about the RODY is that they are harder to
find. I mean if they are such good motors, why dont
they make more of them since people seem to be
willing to pay for them despite of its priceyness.

Yeah and those damn frenchies are really pissing me off right now! Grrrr. Boycott RB until his country decides they want to side up with us against the terrorists!

Hopefully the Purple Heads will be at par on the .12 class soon...

Thanks for the interest and inputs guys.

Default Rody on Ebay

Although if the Rody is so hot, I wonder why no one had bid on the RODY X12 on Ebay yet... It has been sitting out there for days and is still unsold...

Is it because it is a 5 port or is it because it is expensive?

Check it out:

Simply because I can already get a high end .21 on road and off road engine for that price.

Well, honestly I dont think it is expensive consider it has a X12 pipe and RB header!
Think about it, just the Rody Tune X12 5 port is already $330~350, and the RB header is another $30, and the pipe probably around $45~$55!

Uhm.... articles bought at e-bay may fall on some categories.

Shortage or not availability of units on the normal circuit (LHS). If this is the case, price should skyrocket, like this example. 400 US$ for an engine plus exhaust plus manifold and silicone tubing should not go higher than 275 or 290 US$.... 300 At maximum if it's the 3 port version, put another 25 or 30 US$ for the 5 port version.

Since the stores should had plenty of Rodys is a nonsense to bid and buy more expensive something that you can find cheaper.

BTW: Units with blue venturi are the 5 port (1700-315). Units with white venturi could be any of the two versions of Rody 3 ports.

I got my RB 5 port very cheap it seems! In any event this motor HAULS and you will have to go looking a long way to find a motor as fast as this one.

The RB X12 base motor is also a very solid powerplant. It is similar in design to a RS12, but has improved torque characteristics (in my opinion I dont have a dyno!) In Australia a X12 sells for around US$150 and parts are pretty easy to get. Dunno about anywhere else.

I kinda agree with AH10.. $400 isn't all that much for what the guys is selling (considering its got the pipe and all). But it is also certainly not cheap! Seem like it is the same price you will have to pay for them if you get the stuff separate. The guy just made it a package deal, basically.

The thing that bugs me is that IF, the people are trying to limit the supply in order to demand the high price.. Which kinda brings me back to what I have said that " If the Rodys are such good motors, why aren't they making more of them?"

I guess that is part of the business, huh? But that sure sucks for us consumers!
