The thing that bugs me is that IF, the people are trying to limit the supply in order to demand the high price.. Which kinda brings me back to what I have said that " If the Rodys are such good motors, why aren't they making more of them?"

I guess that is part of the business, huh? But that sure sucks for us consumers!
Oh yeah they are REALLY that fast! I have seen one running!

Ah10,

question for you: (And I apologize to the other guys for this is on a slightly different note)..

Which one do you think is faster, your Nova S5 or the RB X12 (5 port non-Rody)

Both are very fast engine, I have both, now the RB has different timing.

S5 has better top end
X12 has better bottom and mid!

Ah10,

Did you have any work done on your X12 or is it the box stock 5 port?

well - I dunno. I had been one of the guys pushing for open engines in 200mm but if 400 dollar engines are the future then maybe a little re-thinking is in order.

Before you know it 200mm will cost more to run than 1/8 scale.

I agree.

But remember we are talking about a hand modified and finished engine here. The correct price of the Rody X12 5 port should be around $280. Remember Dennis Ritchie RTU/RTO combos were over $300 when they were available. The "machine" finished engines like the standard RS12 S3 and such are still sub $200. Stock RB X12 should run you $150. So the war really is now for modified vs stock engines. And mod engines are gonna cost ya! Run factory motors if they are supplying enuff horsepower

Me run factory?

I don't mind dropping the cheeze - I'm one of the nuts like that. I just don't want to look up one day and there's nobody left to race with.

Agree. Here in Oz we have a "pullstart" class where you must run a pullstart equiped sub 1 horsepower motor. Very popular class. In fact guys run modified MTX3 and the like with pullstart motors!

Usually 2 times the number in pullstart than in open gas.

What???? are engines with rear exhaust or side exhaust with pullstart? seems interesting to see something like this. Sometimes we run special races like this (can you see a lot of people who runs 200mm and 1/8 scales running with tamiya cars on SuperStock class? - its simply relaxing race)

By the moment only can run my Rody 5 port at club races (we run all 5 ports and lola bodies.... blistering and insane speed). Next year seems that a new class is to be created is called 'Insane speed freaks 200mm' 5 ports turbo, lola body.... only that differentiates from bigger cars are the fact that a 16% nitro is enforced.

I see..

Please, let me know how big of the difference of power between your stock X12 and the modifed X12 once you've broken it in.

Man I hope I can make it at KZ on monday.

Where are you doing your break in on Saturday?
