Shamu, this Kneaded Eraser can be easily found in the bookstore from any college, office depot, or those who carry stationary for "art" painting stuff.

I used the kneaded eraser in college. It is not that same, but it probably does work! Good thinking.

My buddy (rookie solara) caught me on to it a couple years ago. Hes had his can for years. It starts off a light gray color and now his is pretty much black. Even tho its black, it still works. All you need to do is pull it apart and kneed it to get some heat into it. Once it warms up, its super sticky.

Roniel_R,I will get the serpent putty when I get to brooklyn hobbies,it is a 2 hour drive.I don`t know why my local stores won`t order it.The kneading eraser or ferrit will hold me over untill then. But I have not had the same results with the serpent, mine got worst with age(only one season). If you know Raff, ask him.

Nothing can replace the original Serpent Cleaning putty, come on guys, it's a one time investment, it last almost forever.

It`s not about the price,it is the availability in the northeast.

When you use the stuff, you just can't use it to wipe off your dripping oily pipe. Use a paper towel and brush to knock off the worst. Otherwise it the putty won't last.
